First Wyo Cowboy football game?

Grandpa had season tickets since the 50's, so my first game came undoubtedly as an infant during the 86 season.

9-29-1979 in a loss to CSU. I was in high school and the Rawlins jv team played the Laramie jv that morning and they took us to the game that afternoon.

My first game in person was Sept 6 1997 vs Iowa State. We won 56-10, and I was a freshman in the band thinking "this is awesome!"

I'd watched several games on TV once I decided to go to UW, but the one I remember most is the last game in 1996 vs BYU. Of course, that's the one with the intentional safety that probably got Tiller run out on a rail, but I digress.

The game I remember most from the 1997 season was the CU game in Boulder. The band got to go (we still traveled with the team quite a bit back then - we went to AF that year as well), and they parked us up in the top level next to the press box. We could barely see the game! But I'll never forget that one-point loss after being up 19-10 with about four minutes left, watching that kickoff return go the length of the field, and then the last second field goal to win it. We were excited as hell at the four minute mark, and not so much after the game. Long trip back to Laramie that day, after a game we should have won.

Good memories, and those cemented me as a Wyoming fan for life!

GO POKES!

Pretty much the same memories for me as I was also a freshman in the band in '97. Those were my first games as well. The only thing I don't remember was the band going to AF that year. I remember CU vividly though. That was rough.

You're right, the band didn't go, but a few of my buddies and I did. It's been a while ago, getting confused in my old age. So freshman in 1997? What did you play? Based on your username, I'm going to guess trumpet, or maybe trombone...

Anyway, looking forward to a good game today. Step on the gas and don't let up boys!

GO POKES!

My first game:

Utah Utes at Wyoming Cowboys - Sep 29, 1984, Wyo won 21-14.

Most memorable season 1988:

We opened with a win against vs BYU 24 - 14 Sep 1st then later pounded Utah 61 - 18 Oct 22nd. Unfortunately this sweet season ended in embarrassment as 1988-89 Holiday Bowl vs Oklahoma State we got pounded 14 - 62.

I still nightmares about that game.

Althought we did get our revenge in 1995. 45-25. Plus I won $5 off of a buddy of mine in college. LOL

I played trombone in Charlie Pathetic but I played baritone in marching band. How about you?

My first game was during my freshman year, back in '02. First home game of the season. I think we played and beat the Citadel.

2002? Just checked my 2009 media guide and we played our home opener against Boise State that year. The Citadel was our second home game that year.

First game was Air Force in '87, my freshman year. Got spoiled those first two years with Paul Roach. I thought we would play like that all the time.
