Fennis or Eric....if you could add one to this years Pokes

There aren't a lot of Leckner types around these days, he'd need faster feet. So I'd have to go with Fennis.

But when you think about it, more, Josh Davis sure comes to mind....

I would pick Dembo as well because he was the baddest-ass bad-ass in the history of bad-asses.

I think this years squad could use the swingman more than a center. I feel good about our post this year. Besides, Dembo was a rebounding monster that could hit the three and electrify the arena with rim rocking dunks.

Still, Leckner had about as many low post moves as Hakeem, drop step, turn around, sweet jumper, up and under.... With his back to the basket, he was nearly impossible to stop, he was a great shot blocker and one hell of a leader. There aren't many college centers as good as Leckner was.

I think for this years squad we could use a swingman more than a center and I would give my left nut to see Dembo play for four more years. His personality was one in a billion.

With Afam on a bum knee, I'd take Dembo. But it does make us think of what it's like to have two superstars on one team. How lucky we were to be witness to that great team. I roomed down the hall from Leckner in MacIntyre Hall my freshman year. Both were good guys. Many don't remember, but Dave Lodgens was the higher rated recruit and Leckner ended up being the go-to guy.

In about a month from now, the Cowboys & Cowgirls will be starting their fall practice. The Cowboys will be solid at all positions, but depth will be an issue.

I saw the boys at Mulligan's saturday night. It's funny, even though it's been 25 years, I still idolize them so much I was too intimidated to go up and congratulate them and tell them how much they meant to all of us Poke fans. You would think that watching Dave Walsh lick salt off his thumb and shoot tequila would have broke the ice, but I was still as nervous as a 7 year old giving a book report.

Speaking of which, I met Dave Walsh at Mulligan's in the mid-90s. Gawd, he goes through the beers fast. We had a nice long chat to where you'd think we've known ever all our lives. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
