feelings about the Rebels?

somethings about them scare the hell outta me and somethings tell me we're gonna be alright!!
We always play them tough out there and we know we can beat them at the AA, i see the opening line is at -9 for the Rebels, what's everybody's feelings. I think we give them a toughie, but don't get it done too much firepower;
UNLV 73 UW 66, sorry

My personal feelings is we will keep it close with the style of play and our d. I do think we will lose however around a score of 66-60 or so. Hope I am wrong Go Pokes!

No idea. MWC play has been as random as ever. This Wyoming team embarrassed San Diego State, but was also embarrassed themselves by Fresno of all teams. That makes no sense at all. Wouldn't be shocked either way.....win or loss.

I think it depends on how much some of the younger guys get caught up in all the glitz and glamour and bright lights of Vegas. If they stay focused and just concentrate on what is going on between the basketball lines then I think with our tempo and our defense that will can frustrate UNLV. UNLV is not a very disciplined team this year and I think they will get frustrated with our slow tempo. I think if Leonard and Nance can go off we have a decent chance for the upset but with all of this said I think we probably lose. It's a tough place to play.

I think that Leonard will go off and show up BIG TIME to outplay the freshman Bennett.

I'm going with 68-65 Wyoming on a Josh Adams buzzer beater!

Here is an equally likely senario: Pokes and UNLV tied at end of regulation. They are still tied after 10 overtimes. At that point only two players are left on the court, Grabau and Bennett, the others having fouled out. Both collapse, consumned with exhaustion. Game goes into the record books as a tie.

Seriously dude? Wow, I was just trying to say what I hope will happen then you bring in a 10ot tie??? wow...wanna talk about realistic? when bennett and grabau collapsed, since bennett is bigger than grabau it will look like bennett fouled, therefore giving grabau 2 free throws and grabau makes one to win the game.
Final score Wyo 145 UNLV 144 F/10 OT

And you wanna talk about likely... psh a tie...

Winning at the T&M would be a season defining win for the Pokes. There is a legitimate argument to be made that the Rebels are more talented at every single position. However, Wyoming is a much more disciplined basketball team. This game should provide interesting observation into the talent vs. discipline debate in college basketball.

Winning this game is going to take one hell of a gritty effort from the Pokes. We aren't going to outscore UNLV in their own place. Defense, as usual, will be the deciding factor in this game. The Pokes will need to hold the Rebels to around 35% shooting to have a chance. Anything higher than that and I think this game could get away from the Pokes.

Nope! Even after 10 ot's, WYO wins 55-54. UNLV goes up Big in the first half, but we hold them to 8 total points in the second which sparks a comeback and brings us to ot. All ots both teams wind up only scoring 2 points each, with exception of the tenth, where Wyo wins on 3 free throws to one bucket for UNLV going 3-4 from the foul line in that extra time frame.

From some shitty Wyoming newspaper:

"UW has lost its last 10 games against UNLV at the Thomas & Mack Center by an average of 12.3 points. Eight of those losses were by double digits.

The Cowboys played the Rebels twice on their home floor last season. They lost the regular-season finale 74-63 and five days later lost 56-48 in the first round of the MW Tournament.

UW is 3-20 all-time against UNLV in Las Vegas. Its last win there was 90-80 on Feb. 1, 2003."

In other words, coming out a winner in LV coincides with...coming out a winner in LV. Hoops - Gambling reference for you slow folks.

This will be an uphill battle no doubt with Mcpeachy's factoids in mind but the way we play team defense should keep us in the game for the most part. The wildcard factor is the three point shooting, if we can hit from distance and avoid going 5 of 27 from 3 like at Fresno we will have a chance to win.

Don't forget the live chat starting at 7, will be a good way for all of us to interact during the game!

I am friggin STOKED!!!! I hope the Pokes pull this one out! I am fully expecting Leonard to go into beast mode.
Leonard wants to play in the NBA. He knows that Anthony Bennett is going to go to the NBA and there is all this talk about how good he is but Leonard never gets the respect so he is going to want to play his best tonight. With Leonard at his best, I think we can beat everyone.

It's all gonna be about if we can slow down the pace. It's gonna be tough. But a win here would probably get us ranked again and tell the nation that Wyoming is for real.

If our defense and rebounding are as good as they were against SDSU, and as long as we don't shoot as poorly as we did against Fresno, then I think we have a great chance to win tonight. I tend to believe that we're going to come out with a similar intensity to what we did last Saturday on the defensive end. Limiting second chances and knocking down a few shots will be key, but I think our style of play is UNLV's worst nightmare. They don't want to guard us for 30 seconds per possession, and the more we slow the game down, the more subconscious pressure it puts on their offense.

This is the first key to the game. We have to play at a snails pace tonight and work the whole shot clock and make them guard us. They like to get out and run so this pace will frustrate them just like it did San Diego St.

I think the 2nd key to the game is going to be our 3 point shooting. If we can knock a few down it will open up the middle more for Washington and Nance to work. We need to keep this score in the 50's to lower 60's and no higher.

I have this feeling we are going to have a good shot at winning this game tonight. Hopefully that feeling isn't the cream in my coffee

I feel like we are always good at dictating the pace and that our defense is always pretty damn solid. I feel like the x factor in all of our games is our shooting. The Fresno game was our style to a T, but we only scored 30-some points.
