Trying not to get too far ahead of myself here, but I like the way the team is starting to gel starting with last week's game in Pullman.
Offensive line is beginning to play a much tighter game, still lots of work to do, but progress is discernible.
Defense is starting to tackle better and their pursuit sideline to sideline was much better last week, Wingard has really helped in this area...overall very young on D but liking what I am seeing.
I think that collectively the team is starting to believe in itself a bit more, confidence is growing, run game is chock full of good things, and Coffman is starting to settle in.
I said prior to the season they would get better as the year moved along and that appears to be the case - I still think they'll play their best football in the last quarter of the season.
Not guaranteeing a win tomorrow by any stretch, defending the Lobos option will be a challenge and our D is still trying to get more consistent on gap assignments and the like.
Here's my summation for tomorrow: I expect New Mexico to have a few big plays on the ground and score a few touchdowns - but I'll take the Pokes breaking the seal and gaining their first win of the season. I'll also forecast that the Pokes will win 3 other times after this game tomorrow and finish up the season with 4 victories overall and generate a great feeling by the end of the year that we have an emerging football team that is clearly getting better, with better recruiting classes coming, and the needle pointed well in the right direction.
Will I be surprised if New Mexico wins tomorrow? No.
But I don't think they will.
Final: Wyoming 26 New Mexico 20
