Exactly when do bowl bids come out, and in what order?

I'm guessing playoffs and NewYears 6 come first. For MW, does Vegas pick first? And is the MW team they pick obligated to go there, or can they wait for other offers?

Vegas gets the first pick is the way I understand it. Typically they'll take the conference champ, unless the conference champ ends up in an NY6 bowl.

The traditional system of bowls picking specific teams in specific spots (ie: MW #2 vs CUSA #3) or bowls picking in a certain order is dead and gone. The Las Vegas Bowl gets first pick and they can pick anyone they want. It is being reported though that they are only considering San Diego State, Wyoming and Boise. The bowl system is broken and the only proof you need is that CSU had to play Nevada in a bowl game last year. Due to this I wouldn't worry much what happens to us win or lose this weekend, there is no rhyme or reason to it.

I have said this 100 times, but here goes 101. The MWC bowl tie-ins are complete crap. Commish Hair needs to be whipped with a rubber hose for these arrangements. Maybe he can attend Trump Univ and read "Art of the Deal," gosh, I dunno. Anything other than what we have. The MWC has traditionally been the top of the non P5 conferences. This year, the MWC CHAMPION will likely win a date with a 5-7 North Texas team. Nothing against the Mean Green, but come on.

Hawaii, Boise, SDSU, Boise, Vegas are all hosts. That is 4 games right in our own conference. Hell, why doesn't Wyo host a bowl game and play the winner of the 4A Wy High School title. That is how silly this has become.

This year could be:
Boise at home
New Mex at home
Hawaii at home

From what I have heard from a source at UW, Vegas and Poinsettia Bowl both would love to host Wyoming. I read one report from a Vegas paper that although Vegas has usually taken the MWC winner, they want Boise. SDSU doesn't travel, that is just fact. If Vegas wants to sell the most tickets and boost economy thru drinks and the casinos, Wyo and Boise it is.

How great would a 16 team playoff be? Every conf champion, plus several at large bids. Just a pipe dream.

Simply put, it is looking more and more that if Wyoming wins, we go to Vegas. Wyoming loses, we go to SD.

We will find out Sunday for sure, but if we do not go to Vegas it would be nice to land a spot in the Cactus bowl in Phoenix. Let the home teams play at home if Vegas desires BSU. Send CSU to Boise and AFA to Tucson.

I always thought that was weird.

It's insane to me that with a win saturday by the Cowboys accompanied by a loss by Navy and WMU could land the Pokes in the Cotton Bowl... That is crazy. We won two games last year!!!! It will never happen but just the notion that we are having these conversations is awesome.
