Everything you need to know about the Texas game.

I attended the game at Darrell K. Royal Stadium and here is what happened.

The Texas Band played Ragtime Cowboy Joe in memory of Ruben Narcisse. 101,000 fans were there and respectful of the tragedy. It was 100 degrees and humid, everyone was in shorts. Austin is weird, and there are people who wear shirts that say "keep austin weird". Lots of hot ladies though.

CalPoke25 absolutely positively hit the nail on the head with his post on the game!!! His first 2 points were exactly correct. It was like he was reading my mind. I bitched to my girlfriend on the drive back about this one play that changed the game. The biggest play of the game was after we took the 7-6 lead and Tashaun Gipson blitzed, and instead of coming in under control, he blazes in 100mph, the qb steps up, and Gipson flies by him. I see this in every game and it pisses me off everytime.. The blitzer must never run past the qb, they must always come in under control. Gilbert had no one open and it was an ez sack... Texas would've had to punt, and Wyoming gets the ball back with momentum and a chance to go up 14-6 before halftime. Gipson cost Wyoming any chance they ever had of actually winning. IT TRULY IS THAT SIMPLE.

If you'll notice my last post before the game I said that Texas really really really emphasizes scoring right before halftime AND on their opening drive of the 2nd half. I said that Wyoming coaches and Players need to realize this. Apparently my post didnt' make it to the locker room because Texas scored 3 straight TD's at the end of the half and to start the 2nd half.

Once Texas scored to go up 13-7 with only 3 minutes left in the half, I told my gf that it is extremly important that Wyoming get to halftime without giving up another score. First play was a 7 yard run! GOOD! Then on 2nd and 3 and 3rd and 3 we run terrible incomplete passes that stop the clock, the punt is a bad one that is returned back to about the line of scrimmage. Texas scores 1 play later. GAME OVER.

The one other completely bonehead play that I see in every game is this. The punt is rolling towards the endzone and instead of the player batting the ball out to pin the other team deep, they grab the ball and jump into the endzone or they accidentally touch the line. Somehow someway players always seem to screw this up. I believe it was Ghalli Muhammad that screwed that one up. Just bat the ball back into the field, don't grab it.

The positives. 0 Turnovers!! Always a huge Positive! The 0-line. I don't recall any false starts, maybe 1. That was huge!! I figured with the crowd noise the O-line would lose their poise, I was very very happy about that! Clayton Kirven is huge. Wyoming was not scared or intimidated, I liked that alot. There were some missed tackles but overall I thought the D played well. Their first TD came when 2 of our tacklers hit the runner from both sides at the same time and pretty much canceled each other out. I dont' count that as a missed tackle.

I have a lot more, but the gf is here and wants to go to the mall. Overall a good performance I thought.. Just a couple mental mistakes to end the 1st half.
