I will be the first to admit that I knew nothign of this board before the Texas game, and one email later everyone was watching the game using my FiOS,so I am new to this blogging thing. I just have somethings to add.
1) This weekend is a big test to our team. I saw Cal Poly play against ODU. The defense needs some confidence, and Cal Poly got smoked by an ODU team only 3 years in exsistence, so I say the densen gains valuable confidence. We have thrown our team against Malcolm Brown and a high powered offense in Toledo. Granted our defense needs to play aggressive even when out matched because a great man once said, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."
2) Colby or Thompson can both be great quarterbacks in a spread offense. Let's remember this is the same offense that Urban took with him to Utah, obviously minus Brandon, but when he arrived Alex Smith was #5 on the depth chart. This is not a pro style offense that requires a certain QB, it is built to do more with less. I say Colby can lead this team to victory over Cal Poly, lets not worry about Idaho yet. Yes Brett is a game changer, but our offense is loaded with talent.
3) The running backs wil be fine. All "undersized" in the eyes of many, but should serve as motivation for them.
I was pissed listening to the game, but everything should be ok. Let the defense get some confidence this weekend against a triple option, something they will see again this season, and a variant of one that New Mexico runs. I watched the New Mexico and Texas game, and their offense can be dangerous.
This is just my 2 cents, but I can't listen to people complain about our QB's or RB's. Let the defense develop.
