ESPN has Wyoming projected.....

Against.....Miami (FL) in the Independence Bowl, or Iowa State in the New Mexico Bowl.

Obviously, they see an upset going forward. Likely Air Force.

Wow. The Independence Bowl? The New Mexico Bowl I could see, but outside of TCU or Air Force, I don't see too many fanbases (let alone ours) getting thousands of fans there.

Agreed. Take Schlabach's pick with a grain of salt. He has Hawaii in a mainland bowl game. If the Warriors are bowl eligible, they are obligated to stay in Hawaii. Oversights all over the place for him.

Anyone else hoping for a better bowl opponent if Wyoming does become eligible and go to New Mexico? I know beggars can't be choosers, but still.......Iowa State?

or.....they see not enough teams bowl eligible and letting 6-6 teams with 2 FCS wins fill the spots. This topic came up last year and this was a possible solution to the problem. USC's bowl ban makes it just a little more likely that a non-qualifier could end up in a bowl game afterall. I think the NCAA would prefer a 6-6 team with 2 FCS wins over a 5-7 team getting a bowl game. I would also assume that if a MWC tie in bowl has the option they would pick a conference non-qualifier over a non-qualifier from another conference.

Not that we will need it (i hope), but still a possibility, but not one I would want to count on.

On the projections. I think the Indepence Bowl vs Miami, FL would give us far greater exposure (& money), it would just be harder for UW fans to get to. Iowa St in NM bowl would be fine as well. I don't care, any bowl game would be good.

I would personally LOVE a New Mexico Bowl against Iowa St. A Big-12 team we would have a legitimate shot at. ISU travels well too, it wouldn't be anything like against Fresno, I think that would be a great atmosphere. Playing the U in the deep south where we will have zero fans? No thanks.

I see an upset too. But my pick is TCU - of the biggies, has the weakest secondary - and is at home after the Pokes take a likely thrashing by SDSU.

If SDSU thrashes us, so will TCU. I think a win against SDSU is more likely and loss to TCU.

I will have to go down for it (either location). They have been too few and far between to miss one. ;)

Utah could go either way making or missing a Bowl Game they are still bottom feeders in the P12 no conference wins yet and of the remaining games only 2 are games they should win.

Fuffaloes, Cal and Arizona are all without a conference win, Cal is at least 3-3 overall Co/Az are like 1-4/1-5 so Utah could beat those two team and maybe beat Cal. Living around here I watch the P12 mainly for ASU but Utah is a bottom feeder this season.

This sounds like UCLA in '04... "Wyoming?"

aaaand Fresno in '09 ... "Wyoming?"

And it really irritated me when I read it, so I'm fine with Iowa State.

i agree, in fact i prefer the other teams looking down on us rather that us looking down on them...makes it all the more satisfying when we show up and punch 'em in the mouth

See....but that's the thing. Its Iowa State. Hard to believe they have any type of superiority complex like Wyoming's previous bowl opponents. I'd much rather Wyoming play Washington State or Utah.

I just don't think there's much to gain from beating ISU. They needed a late TD to beat FCS Northern Iowa. For reals. Hoping for a better bowl opponent. Don't want Wyoming to play hard, win, and hear everyone say, "Yeah.....okay then. If beating ISU gets you excited........ :? ". JMO of course.

Yeah, I agree with J-Rod. It isn't a superiority thing....we have no reason to feel superior over anyone...but Bowls should be the opportunity for us to beat a very special team. A team that, if we beat them, we can use as a recruiting tool. To have the opportunity to play Miami would be pretty frickin cool. That kind of exposure would be awesome too. I think we can play with teams like them. If you look at the Nebraska game objectively...we weren't that far off from them. If, and I mean a VERY BIG IF at this point, we get a bowl game with a team like Miami, UW needs to do their very best to put together some travel packages that are very affordable for the fans. Even for people from all over the country. I, being from Iowa will go to the Bowl game this year as I have never been to one. I have already made the decision. :D

in any bowl match up there will be one program that is more storied than the other...once upon a time the pokes going to a bowl meant the other team had the privilege to play us

While I would prefer something other than the NM bowl, beggers can't be choosers. And I have no problem with Iowa St. But i'm not exactly making my travel plans yet. The Pokes still have an up-hill battle to get eligible. I'm optomistic though.

Northern Illinois and Ball State. For reals.
