I enjoyed watching CSU get outclassed by a program from the FCS just as much as the next guy....but as I watched that game play out, I was really impressed by both the talent and the strategy that SD brought into that game. I feel like this is something that is getting repeated every year at this point where a top notch FCS team either beats an FBS team or nearly beats one and the FCS teams fans feel horrible while that teams rivals taunt them for not blowing out a team from a lower division.
My observation is this...the top 10% or so of the FCS is a lot more similar in competitive ability to the bottom 90% of the FBS than that portion of the FBS is to the top 10% of the FBS. I mean the eye test is tough to set aside at this point....The SD schools, the Bison, the Montana schools, Weber St could form the backbone of a competitive G5 level conference tomorrow. Outside of that upper echelon of the FBS, the chest-thumping about FBS vs FCS just seems misplaced. If anything...the bottom half of the FBS (which probably included most of the MWC) should be ashamed that they have as many losses as they do to the FCS due to the scholarship and facilities advantage that most of them enjoy.
That all being said...i'll be apoplectic if the Pokes lose today. haha! :rofl: :rofl:
