So for the second time in the last six weeks, Root Rocky Mountain's broadcast of a Wyoming game was blacked out for me. In Alaska. Root NW is my "local" sports network for DirecTV's purposes, and I did catch the re-air on Root NW so all wasn't lost, but I couldn't watch the game live. This is infuriating.
At least this time, Root NW aired a tape delay two hours after tip. However, I wasn't able to watch it live again, much as I wasn't able to watch the football game against Fresno State. The blackouts seem to be completely arbitrary, as I was able to watch, say, the UNM football game and the NMSU basketball game last weekend. My last contact with DirecTV with regards to the Fresno indicated the fuckup was theirs. I chatted with a customer service agent today who initially went with the "DirecTV doesn't set the blackout rules" but when I pressed him he seemed to agree that this was another error on their part. He'l send it up to management, blah blah blah, but I don't really get the sense this issue is going to get fixed and I'm going to have a few games here and there where I'll try to tune in only to find a blackout and I am going to absolutely lose my shit and put my remote straight through a wall.
Just a vent, I think some Dish customers had a similar experience, so maybe the issue isn't just DirecTV, but I would really, really like to get to the bottom of this so that I don't break anything.
