Seriously - this guy was overlooked by New Mexico and SDSU recently. SDSU is ripe for the picking - they can produce a football program when the cards line up right - UNM seems to be a basketball school.

After seeing him at Texas State, its pretty obvious why he had TCU, Alabama, and a few others turned around.

I don't know if the coaching staff just saw "Texas State" and overlooked them, or if they actually realized he's a very experienced coach.

He's a coach that is happy to be where he is at too. Texas State will be very tough, very soon.

No doubt he is a good coach. Some of his career decisions can certainly be questioned... leaving Bama for A&M just when he had things rolling with Bama and could have wrote his own check?!

But I can tell you he had his team prepared to face us. Their defense game plan was genius. Texas st went after our weaknesses on offense & defense and exploited us. I really think this is the best loss we can have this season. I predicted we would lose this game (look back at the GTS thread...) but this is our wake up call going into conference play.

I guess he likes to build up programs. Certainly did at Alabama.

Fran coached At Texas State before in the 90's and turn the program around before he left to NM, TCU, ALA & A&M. The reason why Wyoming lost was they were expecting a D1AA team to show up like back in 2011. In 2013, Texas State has a D1 team that has a BIG STICK! Even Wyoming's coach said that he didn't think that he would have to play at that level to win... :?

Which should not have happened If we followed their recruiting and transfers. And perhaps scouted this QB, unheralded, who put up major numbers at the Texas State Championship football level. There are very few gimmies these days and I'm surprised that 1) we thought they would be one and 2) that people still think they should have been one.
