Where we can go (only higher) with your support (note: this is but one aspect of benefits that are realized from a successful athletics program)...

everyone’s saying, ‘Any word on Carson? What do you hear?’ I never remember anything like this before in our state. He’s down there throwing in front of all those coaches and scouts, and Bill Belichick is watching Carson? Well, our buttons are just popping.”

And because I can't help myself. Crucify me for arming the ndsu trolls, but reality is what reality is and how terrible the MWC has become:

“I played in the Mountain West Conference,” said Lindley, “and I think that’ll be about the same jump for Carson coming from North Dakota State.

NDSU isn't exactly a slouch program. They have a decent resume against FBS teams. Bohl took them to the top level of that division...where they have stayed with Bohl's recruits. It was a down year for the MWC. During a normal year, NDSU would be a mid pack team in our league. I don't think Lindley was slighting the MWC as much as he was giving props to NDSU.

This is why the signing of Theo Dawson was so big. Not much draws interest in your program like getting a local standout. If Dawson can play at a high level, I think you could have a similar situation in Wyoming.

Carson Wentz would not have the same buzz around North Dakota if he was born and raised in California.

He plays FOR NDSU not against NDSU every week. They are discussing level of competition and the jump to the NFL. Lindley's take is that the FCS division isn't that much different than the MWC. Sad.

Personally, I don't think it was as down of a year as everyone says it was. Boise State and San Diego State rolled in their bowl games. New Mexico played tough against a team that was in the Fiesta Bowl a year ago. While there may have been more parity in the conference and no top dog competing nationally, performance wasn't that bad. And I think we should take what Ryan Lindley says with a grain of salt. The guy is 1-5 as a starter in the NFL.

After watching him throw over the weekend during the combine, Wentz is the real deal. We can only hope to get a guy like that to play for the brown and gold.
