I'll give you a head start on your features on Wyoming for this time next season:
"The 2012-13 Wyoming Cowboys started off looking like the rebuilding project was ahead of schedule. The Pokes got off to their best start in school history, winning their first 13 games. They looked like a legitimate NCAA at-large team. Then, the wheels came off. Senior wing and leading scorer Luke Martinez foolishly broke his hand in a bar fight that led to felony assault charges and his dismissal from the team. Although the Pokes coped reasonably well with the loss of Martinez, injuries and illness began to decimate their already thin frontcourt, with Larry Nance, Jr., Leonard Washington, and Derek Cooke all missing games due to various ailments.
"Little did the Cowboys realize the pile of misfortune thrown their way last season would be a blessing in disguise.
"With no choice but to give valuable minutes to young and untested players like Matt Sellers, Austin Haldorsen, Jack Bentz and Jason McManamen during the second half of last season's conference schedule, Larry Shyatt was laying the foundation for this season by developing his depth. With the continued development of upperclassmen like Cooke, Nance, senior guard Nathan Sobey, and junior guard Riley Grabau, the addition of impact transfer junior wing Charles Hankerson, Jr., and the valuable experience gained last season by Sellers, Haldorsen, Bentz, Mcmanamen, and sophomore guard Josh Adams, the Cowboys have legitimate depth for the first time in Shyatt's second act at Wyoming.
"'We really go ten deep this season, which has allowed us to play at a higher pace at times and use the altitude to our advantage,' said Shyatt. 'We also have some balance to our offense that has been missing. We have players both in the backcourt and the frontcourt we can rely on to get their own shot and make things happen when the play breaks down,' he added. Throw in Shyatt's trademark elite team defense, and the Cowboys look poised to earn a high seed in next month's NCAA tournament.
"And with role player Sobey the only senior on the roster and the addition of promising freshmen Keonta Vernon, Trey Washington, and Alan Herndon, the Pokes look poised to establish themselves as the dominant force in the ever-improving Mountain West Conference. Deep runs in March may soon be the norm in Laramie rather than a pipe dream."
You're welcome.
