Dan Hawkins: STFU

The tremendous and clean/legal hit by Nehemie Kankolongo on that KO return was football the way it oughta be played.

Kankolongo's initial point of contact was with his shoulder, then helmets touched...however I am so tired of this crap with commentators like Dan Hawkins and this bullspit about crown of the helmet...H-2-H only happens 300 times EVERY single game for crying out loud.

Nehemie Kankolongo delivered a tremendous hit, it was not illegal, and Hawkins needs to go find another job he can be quickly fired from.

I actually disagree Dino. I thought it was helmet to helmet. But, I am not complaining with the outcome of it. The AFA guy walked it off.

If you roll back the tape you will see that his principal point of initial contact is with his shoulder. Now does his helmet eventually make contact? Well, yes, and that will happen when your momentum & inertia are headed forward...that's a distinction that needs to be made.

Discretion has to be used with these kinds of things - as well as trajectory of the bodies in motion at point of contact.

I'd be saying this even if a POKES player were lit up on a hit like that.

Now, can we please play some damn defense?

Good point. And he did take both of those guys down, it looked like the first contact was with the blocker, then bounced up into the returner.

The only problem I saw with the hit was that he lowered his helmet and hit with the crown. If they did that play exactly the same but he hit with his facemask, no problems.

If you guys don't like the hit.... Go play intramurals brother! This is divsion 1 football

Perfect.

In all seriousness, it wasn't a dirty play, but there was significant helmet to helmet contact and I would have understood a flag. Glad the player is ok.
