D-line and all those sacks

I thought this would be a major weakness coming into this year, but it has proven to be otherwise. We have so many sacks this year, it's crazy.

Solomon Byrd has stood out to me as a potential superstar. 2.5 sacks and was active all game. He can get pressure one v one and that is gold. He's only a freshman too! Very bright future for him.

Crall, Hall, Jackson, and Victor Jones are all very solid linemen. Jackson is very good. And imagine if Holt weren't injured! Also Cole Godbout has done some good stuff too rushing the QB and batting passes.

I have been very impressed as well with the ability to create sacks. Some of the credit goes to the coaching staff. There were some really nicely designed blitzes against Tulsa.

Tons of credit goes to the staff as well. I wonder if the pass d is suffering as a result of all the blitzing? I hope that can be balanced. We have been giving up a lot of 3rd and longs, and 4th and longs. ugh

I thought the blitz calls were crucial against Tulsa. Every time we dropped 8 or 9 and gave the Tulsa QB time to throw, he was able to make the throws into small windows. With a guy like Tyler Hall (assuming he is on the field), I say go for it and leave the CB on an island.

MVP unit so far. They are saving the secondary so far. Coverage breaks down after about 2 or 2.5 seconds. If the front gets pressure the pass coverage is fine. Without pressure, lots of open receivers.

I agree. Really solid unit.
