UPDATE: We wrote a couple weeks ago that we wouldn't be surprised if Colton Iverson ended up committing to Colorado State (whose head coach Tim Miles, is a South Dakota native like Iverson), and yesterday the news came out that the former Minnesota big man did just that.

Iverson will have to sit out next season per NCAA transfer rules, and has one final year of eligibility remaining when he returns to the court in 2012-13. At 6 foot 10 and 258 pounds, Iverson could become a force in the Mountain West Conference.

It appears that former Minnesota big man Colton Iverson may be closer to finding a new school after three seasons with the Golden Gophers. According to Mick Garry of The Argus Leader, Iverson is currently on a trip to Fort Collins, Col., to check out what Colorado State has to offer.

The report from Garry also indicates that more schools are interested in the 6-foot-10, 258-pound Iverson, though it's unclear which schools those might be other than North Dakota State, which is his father's alma mater.

"I've been a little surprised at the level of interest with him having just one year left," said his father, Chuck Iverson. "But in talking to some coaches when this process got started, we realized there were going to be some opportunities out there for him."

Iverson is due to return from his recruiting trip over the weekend, and we wouldn't be surprised if he ends up committing to the Rams.
