No. What did he say?

My guess is that he said something to the effect of Sawvel and this team are really close, fix a few minor things and they are championship contenders. At least that’s been his story for the last 3 years when discussing Sawvel’s performance.

A lot of truth in this. They can't figure out you need cultivate these smaller relationships as well. Not everyone is giving all they can. You might give $10k but have the resources to do $25k. Does CJC work this donor or make them feel appreciated? Nope, and eventually that $10k walks away.

Nailed it.

And some of these 10K donors are now finding appreciation and the feeling that they are making a real difference at other places (ie LCCC).

I am sending you this email out of a place of emotion, but also from a place of common sense. Wyoming sports used to be a pillar of collegiate sports on a national level. That small school that everyone....and I mean EVERYONE feared to play. From the days where the Dome of Doom was a guaranteed loss to perennial national powers like Utah in the late 90s early 2000s, to the fear opponents felt coming into the War, at altitude, against Wyoming tough teams of the 90s.

For the past 30 years, Wyoming athletics has taken the stance of mediocrity. "If we can do the minimum, we win" attitude. Wyoming has not won an outright title (regular season) since the 2001-2002 Basketball team. I was there when we took on a Utah team that was the favorite with Rick Majerus on the sideline. The AA was packed to capacity (before the "remodel") and was the last time I felt that much pride in my Alma Mater.

We have had our blips of success. We have had our share of "got close". But we are talking a quarter century of mediocrity.

I implore you to take a look at the history of Wyoming athletics and honestly evaluate our current AD and his performance over the past 20 years. It has been close to 25 years since Wyoming Athletics has had a significant presence in the world of Collegiate Athletics and I am but one voice that remains passionate about our University, but by no means the only voice.

Please, take a real look at the state of Athletics and do what needs to be done.

Love the passion! The below is not to take anything away from your email and I agree that if anyone feels the need to say something to him they should. He's accessible and not hard to find and he wants to listen to everyone and I'm sure he appreciates your email.

The only thing I wanted to point out is don't forget he was born and raised in Wyoming and was in attendence for many of the Dome of Doom games and saw plenty of great Wyoming football games/teams in the 80's and 90's. He knows first hand the history of Wyoming athletics and what UW is capable of. Just a reminder, that he won't need to look up the history of the programs or be reminded of how things were. He lived it up close and personal.....his sister attended UW in the late 80's/early 90's....I just don't want that to be forgotten. So keep that history in mind when reaching out. He's one of us.
