I agree with you on this. It's all about Smith. There's no solid back up plan if Brett goes down or is "off". There's no running game to lean on or a lights out defense or an experienced back up QB. Kirk might do fine if needed, but after catching lightning in a bottle twice with ACS and then Brett, I'd be worried if we needed to do it a third time. Having said that, Brett seems to be tough as nails and not too anxious to sit even if he were to have a bone sticking out of his arm. Well, maybe sit if he had a bone poking out, but you know what I mean. We also have the easiest schedule we've had in a while so there should be some games we could win even if he wasn't 100%.J-Rod said:Brett Smith has a lot on his shoulders. The players around him on both offense and defense have to make a big leap this year. The defense has been bad for years, the O-Line is suspect, the usual issues.....can't make Smitty do this all by himself. That's the scary thing about this team.....it begins and ends with Smith. Lots of questions everywhere, but everyone is banking on one thing: Smith being lights out. Will he be up to the task?
We'll know eventually....So far the CDC era has been scripted.....when they're expected to suck, they surprise. When they're expected to "turn the corner", they bomb. Up to this team to break that trend.....
