Craig Bohl

Has anyone listened to the call in show? I always try to listen either the day of or the following day. Craig Bohl is really so enjoying to listen to compared to the last few head coaches that have done call in shows.

I started thinking about it, Let's say Bohl takes the Cowboys to a 6-6 on the low end or 10-2 on the high end ( I'm being theoretical don't get all crazy here ) what record would get him MWC Coach of the year in his first year and what would it take for him to get coach of the year in all of FBS?

Just give me your thoughts.

7-8 wins would put him in the running for MWC coach of the year. 12-13 wins would put him in the running for national coach of the year. The latter being impossible.

^^^^^^^^
This.

It would not be easy, but not impossible, to get to 7-8 wins. If he did that his first year, all things considered, he would be a front runner for MWC coach of the year (short of say, Air Force going 11-1 or something).

7-8 wins. Every magazine put a cap on the team at 6 wins.

Anything north of 8 wins, and Wyoming's getting into scary territory of possibly losing Bohl to a P5 school. 9-10 wins without having even recruited his own players? That would attract attention nationwide. All hypothetical of course.

Not in this watered down MWC and being completely uncompetitive with the big boys.

I personally think winning out would get him national talk and possibly coach of the year. I don't think Bohl would go anywhere after one year but only Bohl has that answer. It's going to be interesting going further, Bohl commented on the call in show this week.

" If you come to the War on Saturdays we'll surprise someone nationally. "

That is a pretty big statement and I'm really interested to see when he can come through on that. I could see a coach making that promise 3-4 years down the road but not in the first year.

It is impossible for him to get coach of the year now nationally. He would have had to win both of those games against Oregon and Michigan St.or at least win one of them and have the other one be very competitive , especially since we play in the MWC and not in one of the big conferences. Then win a bowl game and finish with no losses or only one loss. The fact Wyoming got absolutely blown out both games no way he would get coach of the year even if Wyoming won out. He would get MWC coach of the year but not national is what I am saying.

I understand what you're saying Wyo2dal as it would be a great turnaround if we won out compared to where we were last year and he would get some talk about how he turned us around but he wouldn't be in running for coach of the year nationally since he was blown out twice.

I don't really know about any coaching honors, but this guy's style is just different and good for the team. I was excited when Joe Glenn came to UW because he was a passionate son of a gun who had success in his previous gigs. I was really meh when DC was announced.

However, Coach Bohl just exudes a quiet confidence that seems to say "You cute little mother f$@#&$, just wait till I get my hands around your scrawny throat!"

Definitely a different feeling than before. I hope he sticks around for awhile.

And blow someone out first as well.
Margin of victory might be the most overrated statistic in football.

If we are sitting in December after a 7-5 or 8-4 season, no one will be saying "if only we had beaten FAU by 21 points instead of 1 point, then Bohl might've been in the coach of the year race!"

McElwain is closer to COY in the MWC than Bohl.

Careful, ya don't want to actually say realistic things on here, people might take you to be a sheep lover.

But I do think if Wyo wins 8 games Bohl wins mwc coy

Even in the first post I said theoretical which is 100% opposite of realistic you guys should read posts instead of just jumping in and posting nonsense.

Ya but we're not talking about McElwain they can do that on the CSU board.

The entire thing about it being a theoretical question about Craig Bohl why even bring up anyone else? If I said who do you think should get COY in the MWC your answer would be perfectly logical as he is a great coach. Not sure why you guys are getting all pissy.

I think so too, the turn around is the big thing. McElwain is a great coach but his best shot was last year not saying he couldn't get it this year he could if he won out but that discussion can be left for some other time.

Honestly, if Howdy Doody keeps winning this year, he will be COY of the year. 2-10 last year. They are headed to a bowl game this year. They have won two games penciled in as sure losses.

Let's see where McElwain's sheep are sitting in the Mountain division after this coming weekend. They have to play a pissed-off Nevada team in Reno. I doubt Fajardo will be as sloppy as he was against Boise. Here's hoping WYO has two-game lead on CS-ewe after this weekend.
