Cowboys 17 - 4

Did anybody think we would be 17 - 4 at this point in the season when the season started? Yeah, we did have an easy OOC for the most part, but that was probably the best thing we could have done to get the Cowboys ready for conference.

I think we played our worst games of the year against UNM & SDSU. They had a little something to do with that, but I think it was more us letting ourselves be intimidated mentally by them and all the hype about them than anything else. SDSU is only one game above us, but now we have to play them on their floor. We have shown we are a good road team though.

I don't think the Cowboys know what their true potential is yet and it could get real interesting before it's over.

A much better season than what I would have thought, to be sure. We're well on our way to 20 wins.

However, we need more consistency on offense. Against SDSU we could not hit the broadside of a bard, even inside the arc. Against BSU, we put it in from everywhere.

I think Shyatt has done an amazing job with pretty limited talent. If we get pressed by athletic teams like SDS or UNLV, I think we will be hard pressed to protect the ball. Poor shooting will limit how far we can go.
But, the development of Nance has been great to watch. I'm looking forward to future years when Shyatt gets his own players in here. Then, we will be a powerhouse in the west.

Overall, I love to watch this team. The HS era was to basketball what the Vic era was to football. Kudos to Burman for hiring him!!
