Cory Calvert

Let's not....his stats at BYU are far from impressive. Plus, as Lander pointed out, we are loaded at the guard spot for the next 3 -4 years.

Chaparral High School
Prepped at Chaparral High School for Rob Johnson
Named the 2012 5A MVP in Colorado by the Denver Post and MaxPreps.com

Named first-team all-state

Continental League Player of the Year and the Joint Effort Co-Player of the Year
Led Chaparral to the 2012 5A state title and a 25-3 record while averaging 22.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists

As a junior averaged 15.8 points, 4.8 boards and 3.9 assists and earned first-team All-Continental League and honorable mention all-state honors

As a sophomore averaged 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists and was named second-team all-league

Who at Point Guard has made a statement that they are better than any of the other guys we already have? Can't hurt to add a PG who could possibly improve that if not adds more depth.

Did I read that right? He's at BYU? The cost of fumigating him if he comes here is not worth it

Let's not. We're already heavy in that class and I want no part of a transfer that is going to take a scholarship away from our 2017 freshman class, which has the very real potential to be the most important recruiting class in Wyoming basketball history.

Hey "thirtyseven", I noticed your location is in Utah and you are pushing for a BYU player to come to UW.

I'll have to go along with the following

It would require extensive fumigation just to get him across the border.

This.

I wouldn't care if he was Jimmer Fredette II. Anyone who plays for that program is DQ'd in my book. Pretty sure Burman would have to sign off on it, ultimately, and I know he'd probably be pretty disinclined to do so.

You mean you would not want to improve the Pokes' dick punching ability?

Got this off of the BYU board about Calvert.

Anacondas
All-American
That's not his plan

On the Coach Rose show last week, Coach Rose mentioned that Cory's plan is to go home after this past semester and work out with his high school coach. Then he'll plan to enroll at a school next Fall and redshirt. Then he'll have 2 years to play a full 2 seasons. If he goes to another school right now then he'll only play another 1.5 seasons.

So if he did come to Wyoming he would be red shirting next year it sounds like which would mean there would be more scholarships available the year after. Plus JMac and Morris Marshall would be gone. Cory would be a red shirt Junior that year and be a mature 23 years old I believe? I could see where Shyatt would like that plus they already recruited him and his connection to Adams I think there is a good chance this might happen.

Unless Calvert has grown about 7" and 70 lbs, he isn't what we need.

I don't care about the BYU part. However, we can't go into next season with the same frontcourt we have now and expect to be competitive.

Kid made a career decision knowing it was cultural poison to sign at B.Y.U.*

He can live with it.

Yeah I agree with you. We do need a big. The BYU part doesn't bother me at all either but the fact he didn't get much playing time tells me that he probably wouldn't do much at Wyoming either but the way Shyatt does things it wouldn't surprise me if they picked him up.

The guy that we could have got this last summer that we didn't and he would have complemented Josh and JMac really well and we might be 9-2 right now instead of 7-5 is Grandy Glaze at Grand Canyon. He is averaging over 13 ppg and over 7 rebounds pg. Too bad we missed on him.
