College Football Week 1 Spreads

I am Surprised by this honestly. 5dimes does lean towards the top 3-4 focus programs when playing middle of the road fbs teams. But by the time this line hits GAMEDAY it'll be Wyoming -4 I assure you of that. (Yes I gamble too. Much)

CRUSHING way too early Costa Rican lines with extra juice on August 30th? You'll keep those Ticos in business for years. Do you have a newsletter for your LOCKS of the week?

Quick question. What do people use to make sports bets. Have been considering putting a couple hundred in an account and see how I could do over the course of the football season. I always do a college football pickem against the spread and end up doing pretty good.

Wyovanian probably has some insight on that -- and there are a few others here I know that online wager.

Me? I usually make a few trips to either Reno or LV in the fall, and when there, sports bet in the casino's. Like killing several birds with one stone!
I'm fortunate enough to be able to get bets down in Las Vegas. Haven't really looked into on-line/ off-shore stuff, but the time is drawing near where I may need to look into it.

One more time, I'm not predicting an Aggie win, although that isn't out of the question. I'm just saying, don't look for Tennessee to cover the spread.

Meh, all predictions at this point. I think USU gets rolled. I put $250 on the Vols to cover and put a c note on the Rebs.
I think the Vols are a good bet up to 7, but beyond that, I'd be off of it unless it got to -8.5, then I'd probably look at USU.

As for the Rebs, they are notorious for over-achieving in season openers on the road. However, they're pretty depleted at several key positions, especially RB. Against Arizona, they'll have very little success setting up their very talented receivers without much of a run threat. Arizona -24 sounds about right.

WOW^^^^^

So Vegas sees Wyoming/Montana as a pick'em? Dead even? That will be a reality check to some here.
There's no Vegas line yet- those are off-shore odds.

This game's going to draw very little action, because there's so many unknowns about both teams combined with the FCS/ FBS nature of it. Lots of wild cards so they opened it even early to see where any money might come in. Based on the side getting the action, they'll probably shade up pretty aggressively. I'd guess Wyoming -6 or -7 by kick-off. However, if there's some mouth-breathing, cash-dumb Griz fans who decide to take their side and put their money where their brains should be, the 'Pokes could be a steal.

Anyone interested in a week-to-week or even a season long handicapping pick 'em competition for yuks? I'd be willing to monitor it and update results if the mods are fine with pinning it.

AZ has a great O line this year, but QB and RB are somewhat of a question mark. Should be a relatively stable D, but lacking at corner.

Main reason for my prediction is that I don't think AZ turns the O totally loose in the first game. I think they stay relatively conservative and work on fundamentals, so I don't think they just light the Rebs up.

Definitely could be wrong on this, but that was the one I was willing to gamble on.

I'm not on the USU bandwagon, but definitely could be wrong on that also.

The Wildcats' O-line, even with conservative play, will let the backfield move the ball easily against the Rebels' front four. I can see a 21-0 first half. Rebels don't have the ground game against the the size and speed of Arizona's D-line and LB's to set up much offense. Rebel WR's might get open, but if the Rebels' QB is constantly scrambling, his completions will be minimal.

USU is not going to be as solid as they have been the past three seasons, but Tennessee is showing little promise in terms of scoring capability. Anything more than a TD against the Aggies is asking for quite a bit.

I could definitely see the Reb game getting out of hand; that is why I only put a c note on them. Rebs, like most MWC teams, have a ton of question marks. My bet was mainly that AZ takes a bit of a step back and doesn't turn loose. I'm certainly not counting my c note yet

As for the Vols, I think they will really surprise the Aggies. They've had some nice recruiting classes and have some good young talent. I think they take a step forward this year and will be a moderate surprise in the SEC.

I feel much better about my TN bet than the Reb bet.

Oh, the Rebs. They got smacked something terrible last season by AZ.. they still don't have a QB. They may have the best WR in the MWC, though (Devante Davis). AZ should smoke em! I think TN is going to surprise the SEC this year, they're quietly building something in Knoxville.

I am game...you should start a new topic, so that people see and can respond.

Maybe we should do a $100 per week ($50 per) "pick one to win" this winter as well? Surely we go 8 & 4 at least, and then we can buy some weed or sandwiches or something.
