Coaches in Make or Break Year

Ok fellas I know how you crave a little "inside" information so here is bone for you. This may be public knowledge already for anyone who has went to a practice or two. DC currently has his team running offensive plays at a rate on one every 12 seconds. His goal it to get to one play every ten seconds. The thought is that at elevation it will be a difference maker. Another piece of info that I wasn't aware of is that the receiver's coach, Sage, was the receiver's coach in NH when Chip Kelly was the OC, so he has worked with this system before. I will tell you that in the scrimmages it is a killer on the receivers because they do not sub in every other play like they would in a game situation. They are expected to get back to the LOS get the play call and execute in 12 seconds. That is tough to do when you have just ran a 50 yard fade! Finally, it isn't so much the pace right now it is the mistakes that everyone is making because of the pace........as my son stated "it is difficult to think and execute when you are exhausted.....things are just happening really fast right now but we are getting used to it!"

I went to the scrimmage today and was impressed with offense, especially the running game. Wick looked great he broke off some long Td's. The other backs were also solid. Playing those 2 backs last year as true freshmen was an important long term investment. Im thinking this offensive line is starting to gel. If we can successfuly use this up tempo game, we may see some record breaking performances.

Or maybe our Defense is just as sad as it was last year. Its hard to say, last Friday DC showcased the passing game. Today he showcased the run attack. We are ethier an offensive Juggernaut or a defensive nightmare. Im hoping its our offensive prowess.

I don't know about a juggernaut, but it possible the offense is good and the defense stinks. We have no reason to think otherwise....they've been terrible for years. Cal Poly put up insane numbers on this D. Hell...Idaho ran rampant on them....

Its good to hear May is making strides though. This offense is going nowhere without an established running game.

DING DING DING we have a winner. We will have a good O and a, well, not so good D. I hope I'm wrong on the D but past results don't lie. The D has sucked and I don't see any reason why this season will change.

Ha Ha I am kinda getting a kick out of reading all of the defensive woes in Laramie. There are two ways to fix that problem either A) go out and recruit players that can fill the needs on the defensive side of the ball or B) don't worry about it and just score more points than they do. The old saying "defense wins championships" is way overrated in my opinion. :P
