Can Bowls and Playoff coexist?

I saw this on ESPN where the premise of the article questions if Bowls and the new Playoff can exist? Kind of an interesting article and it will be interesting to see where this goes.

I wonder if the playoff, especially if expanded, is the beginning of the end for the bowls?

Playsoffs don't impact Bowls they are co-existing right now without a problem but the fact they changed the date to New Years eve was the dumbest move they could have made don't put playoffs on that day ever.

TV primarily and bowl greed secondarily have sucked the life out of college football. I couldn't care less about a Beef O'Brady bowl with two 6-6 teams matched up and the playoff won't actually be a playoff until every conference champion (an likely a couple of at-large's) are included.

If the NCAA would do what's right and run a legit tournement, I could see some fun in a handful of ancilary bowl games for teams 8-4 or better, but even those will turn into a popularity contest leaving out deserving G5 teams.

I'm all for capitalism, but those greedy, meaningless bowl games that exploit the playing institutions can die a quick death as far as I'm concerned. The playoffs can pose Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Michigan against each other every year too - I won't watch, though. Basically, college football now sucks in whole.

There are only a handful of lower level Bowl games and those have never been about money anyway they are just about kids playing their final game. I mean look at the payout money.

I consider anything under the Godaddy Bowl to be more about kids and less about money and most of those Bowls are 6-6 teams unless your like Nebraska and slither your way into an upper game with a losing record.

None of them are about the dollars to the school. But, how much money do the bowls make on guaranteed ticket sales forced on schools while the bands also pay their way in AND get charged to perform at halftime? How much money does espn make by subjecting us to commercials at a 5:1 commercial:actual game ratio?

Meaningless.
