BYU stays in MWC

What have you seen in the press back east about Byu's debacle ?

Very little. This is how the average Easterner (East Coast) perceives the MWC:

It is a conference (it is, right?) out west that the Mormon teams play in that occasionally have national relevance. The only teams that play in this conference are BYU and Utah. TCU is in the Big 12, right? The same conference as Texas? That makes sense.

In other words, most didn't have the aptitude to understand the recent news with the BYU switch-a-roo. Nobody really cares.

In Ohio, which is a far more in-touch region in terms of college football than the Eastern media powers on the coast, I have heard it mentioned once on the radio as like an up-to-date announcement, but nearly all talk is dominated by the Buckeyes. Most of the sports news I hear from New York is either about my New York teams, and when it is about college football, is about top-25 teams or how Fordham University is moving up in the football world ( ).

I browsed the MWC forums... Those BYU fans really are insufferable in the manner that they post. I thought you guys were exaggerating it, but no, you're spot on. I hardly even see M*ch*gan fans post in the same way.

I think that BYU still leaves the MWC, and it doesnt matter what concession the conference gives them at this point. They were pretty embarassed by the debacle with the WAC. To stay in the MWC now is to admit that 1) they need the MWC, 2) they are not as powerful in the market place as they think, and thus 3) that they can't make it as an indy. I think they are way to arrogant to admit those things. So they will leave the MWC no matter what.

I will give Lavell-Edwards props. There were a couple links on the MWC board last week saying that he wanted BYU in the MWC with all the teams that BYU had a history with. The whole indy debacle took him by surprise as well. Outside of him, can't really say much in a positive light for them. Hell, I even asked a question if this thing would warrant an investigation by the NCAA (they have done investigations for less), and in 5 minutes I had half a dozen BYnerU fans trying to gang up on me wanting me to point out what BYU did to deserve sanctions. 2 pages later, a couple of BSU posters actually answered my question. After that, and pointing out that is all that I wanted, no other Yner fan chimed in on that thread.
