BYU AD thinks UW/BYU in the future a possiblity

For the record: A BYU staffer called this afternoon, leaving a polite but stern message that I was wrong to insinuate that the football team hasn't made offensive players as widely available at the Monday morning press conferences because of the unit's lack of productivity.

"I think that's a lot of coach-speak. A lot of those teams have a great deal of respect for us and likewise. We'll play MWC teams in the future. I'd rather not say who they are because I don't like to talk about games we're trying to get, but there are teams in the conference that we are talking to and teams that want to play us, and some that don't want to play us. I don't think they don't want to play because they're mad at us, but they don't want to play us because it doesn't fit their schedule."

Uhm, I thought they didn't drink or do drugs in Provostan?

And considering Burman is from Wyoming, and thus probably really hates BYU like the rest of us, I think he meant every word of it, at least while he is the AD here in Wyoming.
 
If I was Burman Saturday here's what I would do after the game regardless of the outcome of the game.....

Go up to the AD for BYU and say "FUCK YOU BYU" and give him the Joe Glenn salute and then walk out with a big smile!

I don't care for BYU as much as the next guy, but I would have to disagree when people say we shouldn't play them anymore. It may not be a "rivalry game" to BYU, but it sure is to Wyoming. It makes sense to keep playing them. Proximity, ticket sales, etc. The pros outweigh the cons. So people can say "&^%* BYU", but at the end of the day that game sells tickets, brings fans to the games and continues a rivalry dating back a hundred years.

We sit here and say "we don't need BYU," but look at the threads started about them just on this forum. "Their WR got kicked off" "The AD said this" "Unga is suspended" etc etc etc

So, in fact, we ARE obsessed with the balding white guys from Provo.

ANY time we can beat BYU is great for recruiting and our program. I would take a non-conference win over BYU than Southern Utah or Weber State. No brainer for me.

Actually, the threads started about them are started because they tried to backstab the MWC, which could have left the front range schools isolated and without a home. So everyhing bad or suspicsious that happens down in Provostan is posted on here in an "I told you BYU cheats/whines/etc" sort of way.

If they had just tried to go Indy without trying to screw over the MWC, then a series might be in discussion right now. Since they did try it, it is not going to happen. And every fan at the Wyoming games in Tailgate park has voiced similar feelings as Burman.

I see your point, but like I said, good or bad, they are getting the publicity and are being talked about. I don't care the topic, it is still happening. Tailgate Park may say one thing, but I promise you that playing BYU helps UW where it counts...the pocket book.

Question... why all the animosity from other schools to BYU? We give you a good game every year... why all the hate?

PS I have friends at USU that loathe us as well... so it's not just you guys.

The animosity comes from (what seems to be) the large majority of BYU's fanbase being arrogant and having holier-than-thou attitudes. My entire life I have known most BYU fans to have the attitude that their shit doesn't stink.

There are exceptions to the rule (of which you seem to be one of), but in my and many other Wyoming fans' opinions BYU and their fans are nothing more than a bunch of pricks. I'm sure most of us would love to be proven wrong, but it would take quite a bit to reverse a lifetime of negativity.

Plus the whole Indy thing and how BYU's adminstration went about it didn't help matters.

It all stems from the holier than thou attitude of the BYU fans,admin,players etc. Or it could be from Danny Ainge walking through the middle of the UW cheerleaders during player introductions at the fieldhouse. Arujo punching people in the junk, chop blocks, dirty blocks in the back, whining every time a flag is thrown or a foul is called on BYU. The reason are numerous and go back decades.
 
After today, the only we we should ever schedule BYU again is a one and done in Laramie. I will not miss the bs officiating that always happens in Provo.
 
exactly, you took the words out of my mouth. one and done or not at all is fine with me, they can take it or leave it.
 
Fact is that it ain't much fun when you're only winning once in twenty years at Provo and not much better when we seem to only be competitive about 1of 5 games when we play at Laramie. If we're beating BYU in Laramie half the time, then Poke fans attitude would be a little less hateful.... just a little bit.
