Buying out Sternberg's deal might save Christensen

Firing DC would require about a $570,000 buyout .

My best guess with Sternberg is that firing him would cost another $1 million in buyout money.

Do we really have $1.57 million to spend on buyouts? And who is signing off on that? If you want to make a legislator or the governor laugh at a budget increase for athletics, tell him that you also are going to spend $1.57 million for a couple guys to go fishing and read Dean R Koontz novels for a few years.

Shit.

I read somewhere (on twitter) that Prez 's buyout is around 1.4 million....such a waste. But a hell of a four month gig. Seriously send the trustees out with him.

Plus the cost of another search. Plus the cost of something like 80% of the salaries for all the deans who were "resigned." Plus any possible litigation. Plus the inevitable drop in significant gifts to the Foundation until things settle down.

Whole fiasco will end up costing MILLIONS.

JHC, would you calm down? For all we know, Sternberg kicked the decision about Burman and Christensen over to the BOT.

Keep calm and FIGHT on!

If this were the case I would assume he would be present at the meeting. Also have to agree with what someone said that the university would have released a comment saying he is safe to end the wild speculation out there right now.

Again, lots of assumptions. If Sternberg's trying to create a buffer between himself and the Athletic Department decisions, his absence would be understandable, but it's nothing to read too much into...

And the Board making any kind of announcement would be the equivalent of showing its hand, which would be poor protocol...

Fair enough, hard to say at this point. I would say that them talking about the president and his future is most likely just from what I have been hearing on campus and in the news. All we can say for sure is what the BOT said and that is the meeting is about personnel.

I want them to come out and announce something totally ridiculous like "After much consideration and deliberation, we have decided to move Burman to head janitor."

Could be enough butthurt faculty managed to get a meeting called to air their grievances too. Doesn't mean any of it's really actionable. There's so many different possibilities- from the relatively benign to institutional Armegeddon, that speculation is pretty futile.

Gets to keep his parking space, but no more state jet privileges...

I tell you what, that BoT could use a few faces that aren't one foot in the grave, so to speak. Need some new, young blood to sit in that room with them and make intelligent decisions based on the 21st century.

No matter what the announcement is, the list of stinky politicians on that board and the mere thought of adding a former gov to a "possible interim" list is quite sad.

Good ol boys club I tell ya.

Fraudenthal's a POS. He was a big part of the smearing of Laramie and UW in '98-'99. U.S. Attorney at the time...

Hey... Nothing wrong with being a janitor. I heard those guys are cleaning up!

That time sucked. I was only about 9 or 10, but media all over the place, Westboro Baptist Church popping up with their usual trash, and the national news making us out to be the Wyoming version of the pre-civil rights era KKK.

Westboro and Fred Phelps are to the 1st Amendment as the XFL was to football...
