Buyers Remorse - San Jose State

Yep. Hate to say it, but both Hawaii and San Jose State look like hasty additions by the MW.

First of all, I honestly really dislike having them in the league. The sport I care the most about is the sport they care the least about as an institution (Men's BB) and their addition has damaged the league in that sport.

However, in the spirit of the whole rocks/glass houses side of things, do you think they will go over 13 years before they win a MWC title in any sport? They probably won't win the MWC BB title in 100 years, but I doubt they will complete the overall AD 0-fer like we do.

At least they have an excuse, nobody in San Jose, the State of CA, or on their own campus for that matter cares about SJSU athletics. We actually have people, even people in positions of authority within the State government, that care about UW athletics and we still can't win.
 
If you followed, you'd realize that the only other schools on the market were Idaho and NMSU. And since Idaho sucks at everything and already plays in an FCS dome for football, then we decided against them. NMSU, basketball? Probaby a 13-15 win team a year in conf play, they dominate the now demorilized WAC. Football? They suck!
SJSU had a NCAA infraction which screwed them even more in basketball. Football was what we as a conf were interested in, since SJSU was better in football than the other two, you get SJSU.

Not to back the pickup of SJSU but 2 season ending injuries and 3 players dismissed off the team all at the beginning of the year they are basically a one man team.

Imagine any team in the MWC right now take 5 of the players off the team and tell them to finish the season. They are basically playing with a practice squad and Muhammad. Not many teams in the MWC are going to represent the conference well under that pressure but yes it does suck they are dragging the conference down.

I can't have buyer's remorse over SJSU. I was appalled by the MWC's invitation to them from the moment rumors they might get in first surfaced.

For buyer's remorse, I would have had to be happy with the move at some point in the process.

At least Idaho and NMSU are real, land-grant, research universities like UW. NMSU is another tier below UW according to outfits like Carnegie and US News and World Report.

Attendance might not be great for NMSU or Idaho, but at least the admission standards are similar to the rest of the conference.
 
If you want to thank someone for the addition of SJSU, thank that clown act up in Boise under Dr. Booby Kustra (aka Dr. Dewey Diligence). Boise's actions in exploring and trying to secure a Big East slot in football (with SDSU riding coattails) were the impetus for the invitations extended to USU and SJSU. The MWC was focused on preserving its FBS membership at 10 at that time. Dewey Diligence was sooo positive he was making the right move to the Big East after talking to lots of people across the country. Oooops.

I'm just saddened by the fact we didn't get to see BSU and SDSU in the Big West for hoops. What a laugh that would have been. Sterk the Jerk and Booby are deserving of such a setup.

Same here.

I knew from the moment go, SJSU was going to be a piece of shit school to add. Hell, they were one of the reasons for the MWC/WAC Divorce in 1998-99.
 
But yet, they are 2-0 vs. us in the sport I care most about, football, since being invited. They could be asking why we're in the conference at all with some of our drawbacks (i.e. lack of competitiveness, tiny demographic, etc.)

I know it's a homer board and get what everyone is saying, but we are in no position. We are at best equivalents in everyone else's eyes and likely inferior to them in their own eyes. Without looking into any details, I'd bet Gene Bleymeyer gets a MW championship at his school before Burman does even with his 9 year head start.
 
how many years b4 they are a factor in BBall, football they are already somewhat there, they can't be overlooked....could you imagine being a Spartans bball fan, oops there is such a team...lol

In football? Not by much, if at all. Their overall record wasn't great, but they blew out North Dakota by a score similar to what NDSU would do to the Fighting Sioux...I mean fighting nameless team. And they beat Bohl in Laramie. I think NDSU would probably win, but not in a rout.
