...friggin idiot.

Mr. Shyatt is gonna have to pull a rabbit out of a hat next year with the leftovers. Sellers, Smith, Grabau and McMannamen are all D1 reaches (and yes, I've seen Sellers and Jason play a few times). Larry and Co. had a terrible off season with discipline issues but more importantly they whiffed on ALL of their first choices this spring.

I won't sell Larry short because that is a sharp dude...but.....he has his work cut out for him now.

It's a little easier to let a kid go who wasn't your recruit. I hope Leonard turns out OK.

Peace

Is this official or is everyone just assuming he is gone? I have yet to see an article on it. Guessing by his twitter account tonight I don't think he's done.

Everyone speculates but JC says something you listen, can't find many times he wrong and until he his. I am going to trust him.

Christ! It will be a long season if we lose him. This sets back the rebuilding process. IMO, I don't think Leonard should be dismissed but I am sure the father of the kid that got punched is pushing the issue.

It's too bad he's not coming back. I'm not convinced it's the end of the world. He spent most of each game on the bench in foul trouble. He only has one more year of eligibility. If he doesn't return we get a talented freshman in his place.

I wouldn't say Shy wiffed on a lot of his first choices. I think Shakir Smith will still turn out to be a good player, Riley looked good in stretches last year. Nance was a freshman of the year candidate.

It sucks we've lost two posts to transfers. You can't blame Shy for Washington though, he was a product of the Heath Shroyer no discipline system.

I think JC was referring to the spring signees in the 2012 class. I know they recruited a lot of guards/wings that signed elsewhere (Delgado, etc.) so I am sure that was JC's point.

Recruiting has been a struggle.

I hope Leonard stays. He has been a solid part of this team.

...with Leonard being done, and yes he's done then next years product will be about shooters. Not a single skilled guy in the paint ( and that includes Nance, he hates it down there) the second version will be about dribble penetration, getting to the line and SHOOTING!

Other than picking up Hankerson for later they did whiff on every "A" target for each recruited position in the spring. Someone has to blow up now....Halderson???.....Cooke???....Adams????

Need a little luck too....a late qualifier or impact transfer. Did the UCLA kid land???

Peace

Hoping that Cooke steps up. He played on a team with a lot of D1 prospects.....and didn't get a lot of shots. He did rebound like a madman and could be a defensive dynamo. If he can show a glimpse of an inside offensive game, I'll be happy. I'd be happy if Sellers developes too.

It will be interesting to see how next years team takes shape.

Cooke (PF)
Nance (PF)
Martinez (SF)
Sobey (SG)
Gilmore (PG)

We'll see what we get out of Adams, Halderson, Sellers, and Grabau. If nothing else, we have good coaches and should be able to play solid D. The rest of the guys should redshirt.

Who do we have that can penetrate off the dribble? Without that and without a low post player who commands a double, shooters are next to useless. As we demonstrated last year.

Again, I'm not really worried about next season. Given our personnel (ie, lack of perimeter players who can get their own shot) our ceiling was another season like this past one even with Leonard. Two years from now, we damn well better have someone who can consistently unbalance a defense on the bounce or we're not going to have conference champion-caliber team.

as far as Sellers; he couldn't come close to standing out at a JC preseason scrimmage in October against smaller dudes. Even his teammates were making fun of him. With that being said, I hope that Shyatt can carve out some effectiveness from him for 10-15 touches a game. It would surprise me.

As far as BillyDee...I have no clue what went south there. Is he definitely out of the mix??? The prep school hinting might be some well placed smoke. Maybe Shyatt heard of the Tim Pickett situation here a few years ago and is playing his cards right now. Who know. Not me.

Peace

As of May 23, Kevin McKinney says Leonard has alot of work to do to get back http://www.kfbcradio.com/ starts around the 8:45 mark.

As for the UCLA dude, Brendan Lane 6'9" big man, he's going to Pacific.

That website never loads the audio properly for me so for those that wanted to hear just about Washington and nothing else here it is. Sounds like he is still at the UW but also sounds like he really has a long rocky road ahead of him that they have started working on. which also sounds like up to now he isn't gone yet but certainly is hanging on by a thread.

Ignore the Video it's just a loop required for Youtube.

who drew double teams for CSU in the post???

The game is changing.

It's a fair point, I'm not saying that we have to have a dominant offensive player in the post to be good offensively, but we need better athleticism somewhere on the floor if we want to score consistently. I sound like a broken record I know, but this last season we were just brutal to watch offensively against good teams. To some degree you can blame a lack of imagination on the part of the coaching staff but at some point you just have to say, we don't have the horses yet. Our most athletically gifted player (Nance) is also our most raw offensively - he scores mostly on hustle. So how are we going to score?

Personally I think the reason for the weak offense and lack of imagination was due to the fact it was first year coach trying to get the ball rolling and we put way more effort into defense then offense. I do believe that we will have a different offensive team this year then we had last year.
