Bruce and Michel should be back

earlier in the week gag's reported that bruce and mirando michel have returned to practice...how much they will get into the game is yet to be seen. However, both are huge for their respective positions. Bruce is a 6'5 240 pound TE that had a hell of a productive fall camp. He creates mismatch problems.

Also, Michel was having a huge camp at DE. He's listed at 6'3 286-290. His addition couldn't have come at a better time. He was one of our highest rated recruits this year, a solid three star DE. Nebraska and the rest of the college world have Zero gametape on these two. Groovy!

Did ya'll know... wyoming is second in the mountain west for sacks allowed. Boise state is leading the mountain west with 0 sacks allowed, but they had a bye week. Through three games, our oline has only allowed 2 sacks. Pretty awesome stat. This group is very much improved in both pass and run blocking schemes. Leonard is still hurt this week, but Kirven is taking his spot in solid relief. Kirven started last week, as leonard was hurt before the Bowling Green game.

More cool info...

Looks like Jared Crick for nebraska is hurt... no release yet on his offical injury... but its on the nebraska boards that he may be limited for the game. through the first three games, crick has only produced 1 sack. He demands double teams, but his production has been down, the rest of the nebraska dline has produced better numbers, probably due to the fact that crick is gathering so much attention.

Smith, going into this game, is the most productive qb that nebraska will have faced. Carr and the washington qb don't have the rushing production that smith possesses. I would agree with nebraska fans to the fact that our competition has been poorly rated. Still... i wouldn't be suprised to see smith average 300 total yards again.

I never said we would win this game. I said we had a chance to go 4-1 in our first five games... with this as a sure-loss. this game is suppossed to be the nebraska show from start to finish. In all reality, if we can't break their offensive gameplan, I could definetly see us losing by at least three touchdowns. If taylor martinez and their offense get to stay in control, we will look like a division 1AA school. But, thats what the nation expects.

If... and i say if... we can get a lead going into half time, it'll be a different ballgame.

Taylor martinez is effective when running. But not just in the option. He likes to let plays breakdown (alla ACS) then take off on runs. Watching his passing skills, his decisions when having to throw... honestly not very good. It may hurt some cornhuskers feelings, but that is a weakness of their team... He throws a side arm ball, has decent touch... and has made some nice balls so far.

But here is the deal, martinez is usually throwing the ball into single coverage... nobody has been able to slow down nebraska's running game enough without committing one or both safeties. His receivers are gifted enough to make plays.

Wyoming has shown that they can make plays when they are down. Nebraska hasn't been down by two scores going into the third quarter.

Can we get them into that situation? I doubt it. But the cornhuskers sure as hell better hope that they have this thing underwraps early.

give em hell pokes, and play like its your last time to ever touch a football.

No, that doesn't hurt our feelings at all. You're just looking at a few games - we've watched every game Martinez has played, and we know better than anyone that he's a poor decision maker at times. He has great ability, but at times he is more harm than help to us.

if nothing has been fixed, anyone should be able to throw against us. i hope we have fixed some things, but we might have to try and out score them.

Don't forget about Browder either. He's going to play. That has to help when 3 guys that will all be in the rotation come back the week of the Nebraska game.

I guess Im one of the few non Nebraska guys who has actually been impressed with Martinez. I've watched several of his games and sure he makes some mistakes but the guy can be very accurate and he has the ability to have a VERY quick release especially when his team really needs it.
That said go Poke :thumb:
