What's even worse is that only 6 players played. I get that some of the younger kids are still pretty raw, but it's high time they started getting some minutes.

The thing about that though is, if these players aren't good enough to play against our OOC schedule why would they be good enough to play against MWC teams?

I'll reference back to Nance last season. He saw very little time in OOC play and into the beginning of conference play, but once he had been in the program for a while and got a little more comfortable he was a major player. I see the same thing happening this year with some of the younger guys.

My bad...I should have defined the post a little further.

There was actually 9 Cowboys that logged minutes last night...the 6 I put in my original post carried all but 8 game minutes.

The other 3 that played:

Cooke 5 minutes, went 0-1, and picked up 2 fouls
Bentz 2 minutes, did nothing
McManamen 1 minute, had one steal

Again... :puke:

Oh, and what made me say WTF the most?

Gilmore & Bosswhatever went 2 for 12 combined from 3 (0 - 4 on Gilmore, 2 - 8 on Bosswhatever).

WTF is Bosswhatever doing, launching 8 3-pointers anyway? Did he bet on the game?

i think it's time to let Wash and Nance play street ball and see what happens, get 25 per and go from there, after all what would it hurt to let those 2 go wild?? maybe i'm nutz, i think the offense really limits those 2 on occassion, not to mention Josh as well...GO POKES

Scoring's clearly become an issue. The predicted youth-related issues and greenness of the team will continue to come to the fore in road games against potent offenses, especially since Martinez is gone. One way to look at it- we're still competitive. That was no walk in the park for UNLV last night, and we can beat anyone in Laramie. This is an over-achieving team, and a trip to the NCAA Tournament would be a very unexpected end to this season for anyone looking at it from the beginning.

As much as I want us to win NOW, I'm a fan of the long view. Let's enjoy the surprise this season's become, but look forward to seeing what Coach Shyatt can get done with his recruits over the next two years.

For the off season, the guards especially, need to work on their outside shooting. We need at least 1-2 gyuys that can hit the 3. Open things up for the post play.

I think this is the most IDIOTIC thing that has been said in two years!
Playing street ball is what Schroyer and McClain did... I prefer being competitive over losing by 30 or so to SDS or UNLV. Or even losing to multiple OOC teams which had NO business beating us! Or have you forgotten those debacles?

Shyatt has proven in his third year here now that playing team ball still wins games. Another example: Star studded LA LAKERS play one on one street ball and look at them? Everyone thought it would be a dream team. Now it's an embarrassment!
Don't give me this street ball shit again!

The biggest issue is Martinez being gone, Add him back to the team and I'm going to say we have only lost 1 game. We lost to big of a piece of a puzzle and I think we all know that. The only good thing about this is this is only Shyatts second year coaching Wyoming. Let's just look at it on paper.

Steve McClain 1999–2007 157–115
Heath Schroyer 2008–2011 49–68
Larry Shyatt 2011–present 36-14

Shyatt has proven in his 2 short years that he is going to be the future of this program and we shouldn't dwell on anything this season he has already done in 2 years what Schroyer couldn't do in 3 years.

Now he hasn't won a conference title for us yet, But I believe with him leading us we will. The future is bright in Wyoming Basketball.

Does Shyatt think Sobey too weak on defense to get a lot of minutes? Seems like he could be a scoring machine if turned loose. I think he needs to sub more for Grabau and Derrious.
