Bohl's recruiting plan,

This is a good article from the CST. It details Bohl's plan to use Wyoming camps as a major recruiting tool.

This is one area that looks like it's already improved in addition to the weight program. The differences I've noticed:

1. We cast a much wider net under Bohl. He offers better recruits, more recruits, and it seems like he offers them earlier.

2. He goes to every school in Wyoming.

3. He's targeting areas that we've overlooked for a long time that should be part of our football recruiting under any staff.

Make sure you pay attention to who comes into camp this summer. Over half of our recruits will have participated in a Wyoming summer camp, according to Bohl.

P.S. Hey mods, any chance we can unpin the 2012 recruiting thread from the top of the board and replace it with the 2014/2015 recruiting thread?

I look forward to seeing Bohl's development as an FBS recruiter. He had the talent edge among the MVC teams, and even out-recruited MAC schools to get kids to Fargo. Recruiting at Wyoming and in the MWC is a different story....I'm eager to see how this plays out.

The bolded is why I'm not as worried as some of you. He outrecruited schools a level above them to get kids to Fargo. Its not just about "He recruited MAC talent, but can he recruit MWC talent" Its "look at the schools he's beaten to get some of them in comparison to the school he's at."

However, that being said, I wouldn't just look at how many stars a kid got or what offers he was given. Bohl beat out a Division II school and a walk-on offer at Wisconsin for Brock Jensen.

I think Bohl loves to get the diamond in the rough...the guy not many others is going after. His Bison teams were littered with guys passed on by the University of Minnesota, and many of them were key components to their title runs. I think Brian Hill has a great chance to be that guy, and I think Bohl will go through Colorado to find those guys as well.

At the same time, he's smart enough to know that a program cannot thrive solely on the underappreciated recruits. He's going to have to win some recruiting battles which will be a good test of his recruiting ability in the MWC.

Well, we do have a larger budget, FBS status, and a few other things going for us.

Yes, but in terms of recruiting within the MWC....Wyoming is clearly 2nd tier at best....and even that may be a stretch. Ask any MW fan...most would rank Wyoming towards the bottom of the conference in terms of recruiting potential. It's no revelation that it's hard to recruit to Laramie. That's not to say Wyoming can't find good players, only that in terms of competition...it will take some great recruiting for Wyoming to finish towards of the top of the recruiting ranks in the MW.

Fortunately, from all that I've seen posted from recruits courted by Wyoming, this staff knows what they are doing.

I've said it before this 2014 has a few diamonds in the rough. Brian Hill, Cj Jennings, Sydney Malauulu, and Nick Smith will be the stats of this class in my opinion. The surprises are going to be Alex Bush, Daniel Vega, Chaves Powell, John Jackson.

Remember that I predicted this.
And I might have spelled some names wrong lol.

Honestly star ratings should've been out of Wyoming fans vocab and thoughts many moons ago. We are a developmental program and we just need to worry about being the very best program in that nature possible.

I'm excited to hear we are going to invest highly into nutrition and S&C. If we have the coaching staff we believe we have (a damn good one), then we need to hope we have a behind the scenes coaching staff that is the cream of the crop of the MWC. I think very highly of coach Duval but then again I have always been a huge believer in the works of Boyd Epley and his Nebraska S&C assistants.

We need to find tough sob's that fit the Wyoming profile on and off the field. It is our job to develop them into big time football players. I'm very excited that the coaching staff is focusing first and foremost on the Front Range and the Great Plains. Nebraska and Kansas were neglected for way to many years! The Northwest and California will be there also.

I think coach Bohl definitely has the blue-print, he just needs further resources going into the future to sustain.

Bohl has gotten kids over Pitt & Rutgers, Army as well as the MAC routinely. I'd say 75% of offers are to kids that he had in camp. That's very important to him and staff.

I definitely want to see kids from Northern Colorado heading up there. This area is sprouting high schools and talent.

Outside of the state of Wyoming, Colorado should ALWAYS be #1 when it comes to recruiting for us. Should be able to land at least 4-5 kids yearly from Colorado.
