Bo Pelini: All freshmen should be ineligible

An interesting take from Bo Pelini here. Basically saying that freshmen shouldn't be allowed to play football, or any sport, as a freshmen while they mature and adjust to college life. I can't say that I disagree with him.

I see what he's saying, but that's why we have redshirts. Name me one team that didn't have true freshmen play last year, or any year for that matter. Including Nebraska. Sometimes, you have to start true freshmen.

You mean 35. Their Freshmen are already 30.

Back in my day (pre-Jurrasic) freshmen were ineligible. Prior to 1972, Wyoming had a Freshman team that played other Freshmen teams in the area. As with a lot of things concerning money, schools began to complain about the expense of running freshman football, so the NCAA responded by letting Freshmen play and creating the red shirt policy.
