Billydee Williams ready to commit???

If you check out Williams blog, it looks like he has made up his mind, but no word on where that is yet. Here's a clip from a UTEP page:

With the late signing period winding down, the UTEP basketball team awaits word from a pair of recruits that took visits to the campus just last weekend. 6'5 G/F BillyDee Williams, and 7'0 C Matt Willms were both in El Paso last week, and seem to have the Miners in their final two. The Miners only have one available scholarship for 2012, so it's not likely that they land both of them, but it would almost surprise me if they didn't snag one.

Williams is rumored to be down to Wyoming and UTEP, while Willms is apparently down to Missouri and UTEP. Williams announced on his twitter that he has his mind made up, but hasn't revealed where he will play. The late signing period ends on Wednesday.

Utep filled their scholarship with the other guy. It looks like they're done recruiting.

While I would absolutely love to get this guy, we don't technically, officially have a scholarship available to give to him at this moment as far as we know. So I'm not going to get all butthurt if he doesn't sign with Wyoming. I would consider it a very pleasant surprise if we find a way to get him but that's it. Otherwise I'm still happy with the guys we have coming in and those we have returning.

If I was coach Shy...I would kick Washington off the team. Tough stance, but stuff like that is horrible press for the team and school. Despite him being the best player in the team, that kind of shit is unacceptable and there should be ZERO tolerance.

Agreed. We're building for the future so the message has to be sent now.

Edited to add: As has been pointed out elsewhere, Shyatt suspended Leonard on April 4, and the incident giving rise to Leonard's convictions occurred on April 15. Doesn't exactly sound like someone who was working diligently to get back in the good graces of the coaching staff and the university.

I hope he finds a way to stay in school and finish a degree, but I have a hunch we've seen the last of Mr. Washington in a Wyoming uniform.

Something most people seem to be forgetting on the other Wyoming board and this board is that Coach Shyatt already knew about these charges and had already suspended Washington because of it. He had already been told he can work his way back.

All of us are just hearing about it now so it comes as more of a "shock" or whatever you want to call it. I wouldn't kick Washington off of the team for it though. This type of stuff happens a lot with kids this age... I don't know the exact details obviously of this situation but i remember numerous times partying at that age and people getting in fights...
Unfortunately the person Leonard hit decided to press charges against him for it and he happened to be an athlete on a college basketball team. I don't condone what he did and he needs to respesent the University better of course but if he does what the courts ask him to and what Coach Shyatt asks him to then he should be let back on the team in my opinion. Sounds like he threw a punch. It wasn't like he raped someone or killed someone or was drunk driving or caught with drugs

If throwing one punch is the worst thing he ever does while at the University then i'm not going cast the man to hell, especially when I don't know the whole details. I trust Coach Shyatt to make the decision since he knows more about it than anyone else.

So we will see how it plays out.

He was suspended on 4 April...this happened on 15 April....so, this is offense #2.

Well if that is the case then I would say maybe that is why Coach Shyatt kept recruiting BIllydee then because he knew of this situation. It would seem hard for Washington to still be on the team then if this was offense #2.
