Biggest Hits and Busts

Hi there. I'm new to the board... I figured I would stir up some conversation as we count down the the season.

Who are your top 5 biggest recruiting hits and top 5 busts for the Cowboys. Maybe a guy was highly touted coming in to Wyoming and turned out to no contribute or leave the school before contributing...

My top hits (from what I remember)

1. Jovon Bouknight- Really under the radar coming in and signed as a QB. Left as one of the greatest Cowboys in history.
2. Devin Moore- a 2 star guy on rivals. Left as Wyoming's all-time leading rusher and was a game changer.
3. Tashaun Gipson- Highly touted kid we got because his brother played at Wyoming. Was a solid 4 year starter.
4. Chris Prosinski- A Wyoming kid who wasn't highly recruited. Turned into a 3 year started and 4th round draft pick.
5. Brett Smith- This kid has a shot to be outstanding. Adam Pittser got all the hype on signing day but this kid turned out to be a star. Excited for the future.

Busts are kinda hard to do because they tend to transfer out if they were highly touted. We don't really get highly touted kids anyway. Basketball is a little easier to remember the kids who were suppose to be great and never did anything.

I never really followed recruiting until I got married. :rofl:

James Davis, Dax Crum, Orlando Arnold.

Highly touted coming in, never produced.

Dax did get a lot of attention on the SVP show however...

The current coaching staff has done a solid job of not over-hyping one single guy from a signing class. They expect all to come in and contribute and if they don't, someone else will.

Loved Joe Glenn but it seemed as if the key guys they would highlight never turned out, with the exception of Hendricks.

Guys like Knapton, Gipson, Givens, Unrein, Leonard and Claffey were never overblown but were awesome players during their time.
