Big 12 Championships!!

Pokes come out strong!! Jensen, Moody, Samuelson, Hastings, Buchanan and Andrews all into the semi-finals and all guaranteeing a top-6 finish. The only minor letdown is Jacob Wright but I bet he comes back strong. Overall, couldn't have hoped for a much better start to the tournament.
 
After the first session (first two rounds), Wyoming sits in second place (out of 12) as a team only trailing Oklahoma State. If Montorie returned and assuming he was in the semis, Wyoming would be in first.

Me too. It seems that every year the Pokes have fallen flat at the Big 12s. This year is the opposite so far. Let's hope it continues!
 
Big night for UW wrestling.
Pokes tied with OK State for 2nd, Oklahoma in first.
EDIT: score correction in the last few minutes. Wyo in 2nd with 97 points, OK State in 3rd with 96.

Lots of Wyo guys still wrestling tomorrow.

141: Zollman still in contention for 3rd.
149: Jensen loses in the semis, in consols for 3rd
157: Wright wrestled back, still alive in consols
165: Moody in the Championship
174: Hastings loses in semis, still alive for 3rd
184: Samuelson in the championship
197: Buchanan in the championship
HWT: Andrews in the championship

4 Pokes wrestling for a Big XII championship!
Another 4 that will finish no worse than 6th and could be as high as 3rd.

Without looking through all the brackets I would say Wyoming has a decent chance at a conference title if everything goes their way tomorrow!

Hastings losing a heartbreaker is the only minor letdown. Wright and Zollman battled the consoles.

Pokes guaranteed a top 4 finish. Team title is super tight with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Wyoming and Iowa State all having realistic chances to win the tournament. I’ll say this - Oklahoma is in first right now but I’d bet against them winning it.

I actually thought he was over seeded at 6. But yea I guess he didn’t have a very good day.
 
Wright, Zollman and Jensen all lose. Tough start to the day. Close losses for Jensen and Zollman. Wright had a tough opponent.
 
Hastings takes 3rd. Wright and Zollman take 5th. Jensen falls to 6th.

Overall, decent morning. Let’s go Pokes in the finals!!
 
5 guys with auto invites to the NCAA tournament, and more guys wrestling in the conference finals than any other Big 12 team.

After the morning session Wyoming is in fourth and has to win all four finals to have a chance to win the team title.

I think the title is officially out of reach. But with 5 guarantees to the NCAAs, and at least 1 other (Wright) who I think will get in, this has been a very successful tournament.

Let’s go Pokes in the finals!
 
I have not done nearly as much following of the wrestling team this year. Its awesome to see some success, especially after so much uncertainty with the team after over 2020.

Moody's up, lets go!

Yea it did. It was still a good tournament but I want today’s losses to leave a bad taste in the mouth of the team to come out and light it up at the NCAAs.

Here is my prediction: Hastings and Buchanan will become all-Americans. Prove me wrong and let’s have 4-5 AAs.
