I am also a traditionalist. What I would like to see is essentially Penn State's unis, with brown substituted for navy and Steamboat on the helmet. Possibly minimal gold trim in strategic places. No names on the backs. That would look awesome and distinctive. Old school is the way to go - austere, no wacky spikes or crazy accents. I think it sends a message that we are here to kick ass - and kicking ass is more fashionable than anything.
Mizzou busted out gold unis in certain games (much to the chagrin of their faithful; many of them complain about how they look and they apparently don't win with them very often) - I do like the gold unis and would like to see them on special occasions.
I don't like Notre Dame, which is why I love the green jersey tradition. I think it is a great tradition, they look awesome, and Notre Dame always loses when they bust them out. Best of all worlds.
And hopefully DC gets the marketing department on board with making real deal jerseys available to the purchasing public.
