BCS Conference Rankings

Something i created to try and determine each conference's power or success. It goes as following:
5 points are given to a conference with a top 5 team (i.e. Alabama and Florida each from the SEC get 5 points each)
4 points are given to a conference with a top 10 team
3 points for a top 15 team
2 points for a top 20 team
1 point for a top 25 team

Using the most current BCS standings this is what i found out
Big 12- 19
SEC- 12
Big 10- (10)
MWC- 9
Pac 10- 7
ACC- 7
Big East- 4
WAC- 4
MAC-3

Very respectible that shows the talent of the MWC
Hopefully i explained how i did this well enough.

Not bad, that really isnt any computer ranking as it only bases its point distribution on rankings (so comparing it to Sagarin really isnt of much value).

The problem I do have with some rankings such as Sagarin is that it places a lot of weight on the middle of the pack conference teams. I have seen some computer rankings putting the ACC as the best conference (which is totally ridiculous).

If I were to rank conferences, it would go: (completely subjective)
Big 12 (overall pretty deep, great top 3)
SEC (a number of decent teams, AL and FL carry conference)
Big 10 (OSU, PSU are still pretty good)
ACC (the deepest conference, but no great teams)
MWC (loaded with UT, TCU, BYU...but us bottow dwellers bring it down)
Big East (I just think it is a little deeper than the Pac-10, Brian Kelly is a great coach at Cinci)
Pac - 10 (USC....then pretty weak)
MAC (about as good as the MAC has ever been IMO, some good offenses in the conference, watch out bowls!)
WAC (BSU....then nothing)
