Since MWC play has started:

Nance:
20.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals, 1.6 blocks

Adams:
15.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.3 assists, 1.6 steals

These two are combining for 36 ppg, 13 rebounds, almost 6 assists, and almost 3 steals per game.

MWC POY and MWC 1st Team.

I also believe either would be legit contenders for defensive POY

I was wondering about that.

Nance is the returning MWC D-POY.

Do they give him the award again just because? Let's say Nance wins POY and Wyo wins MWC, does Nance have "right of way" to the D-POY? Or do they actually look at stats and assess from square one?

In theory, last years numbers should never influence an award for this current season, but as any of us have seen in our years of being sports fans, at many different levels, the sometimes awards are won based off of popularity, or because of past stats.

It would be cool to see Adams win D-POY and Nance win POY, then next year Adams win POY.
Make it kind of a right of passage for Wyo players.... win defensive player of the year as a JR then win MVP of the league your senior year.

Nance wasn't very intimidating down low on the defensive end during non conference in my opinion (mental hurdles with the knee) but I don't think that's looked at as closely as conference season when it comes to conference awards.

Both guys have positives and potential drawbacks when it comes to DPOY. Adams shuts guys down, but his aggressiveness leads to mismatches and he can only guard a few positions. Nance can guard all 5 guys on the court if needed and his length and quickness for full court pressure is a coach's dream/nightmare. However his explosiveness hasn't always been there as I said above.

As you mentioned, previous accolades may go against him... But I hope that feeling is only reserved for the dumbasses who vote for the heisman lol. That shouldn't hold him back

I don't think it happens very often that someone wins both DPOY and POY in the same year.

Nice work with these stats.

I thought he was... But it was actually birch from unlv.
I guess I thought he didn't win it after Adams' double clutch humiliation on him at the tourney.

Nance is definitely DPOY this year

I don't think it happens very often that a player like larry nance comes along and dominates on both ends of the court. Guys like jimmer come through and easily win POY awards. Nance is definitely unique. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the sweep. Hell, let's give papa shyatt coach of the year too
