Last year Stanford looked average against SJSU, Washington, Arizona, Cal, Notre Dame, and Wazzu, yet beat the Ducks. Oh and won the Pac12 Title and the Rose Bowl.
Stanford doesn't run up the score on teams, they play an NFL style of game including a big run game and heavy use of the tight ends, and have a big nasty physical defense yet they manage to win games against top opponents.
The last 4 years the Ducks and Stanford are 2-2 against eachother.
Plus isn't this the same thing the Ducks always do? Destroy teams out of the gate, and amaze people all season, stay a Top 5 team then lose their biggest game of the season?
