Attendance

Wyoming vs. CSU attendance. I'm a stat nerd, and looked up some and crunched some numbers.

CSU attendance through 11 games is a total 46,077 averaging out to be about 4189 fans per game in the Moby Gym with their biggest attendance being 7626 against UNLV saturday.
They have had 8 games of under 4000 people.
They have had 2 games of OVER 5000 people.

Wyo attendance through 11 games is a total of 63,653 averaging out to be about 5787 fans per game in the AA with our biggest attendance being 9573 against SDSU saturday.
We have had 0 games of under 4000 people.
We have had 7 games of OVER 5000 people.

Their biggest crowd would only be our 3rd biggest crowd.

I think we have better fans for sure! And we all know that we are on average driving a lot farther to the games than they are!

It sucks to be a CSU ram!

In while I agree with you, their capacity is 8735 compared to our 15,000 where as their average maybe lower but on a percentage of full is much higher. I have been to that airport hanger they call an arena and can't stand it. They should have a lot more people at their games 7plus shouldnt be that hard to do considering Forco is much bigger and not contigent on road conditions for attendance.

Population
Laramie - 30,000
Fort Collins - 150,000

Enrollment
UW - 14,000
CSU - 28,000

Agreed, it shouldn't matter the size of the arena, if you can't fill 8,000 seats when you have THAT many people living in town and your team is 15-3, you're doing something terribly wrong.

You guys are missing it. This is exactly why I love being a COWBOY! People make fun of wyo all the time saying no one cares and that we are a bunch of rednecks. While I am proud of the fact that we are rural folk, CSU really suffers from being more "urban". There is too much to do there. Too many other things pulling at all the people. I love that the Cowboys are the only show in town. That's the way it should be in a college town! An Laramie is an amazing college town. I love it!! I would hate to be in ft Collins....or anywhere that has a large population base. I am a little jealous of Boise. But I Truly believe Larame can follow their model. Just mho.

I just wish more of Laramie would help pack that place, rather than depend on Cheyenne as much as it does, afterall there really isn't much to do in Laramie on a Wed nite...lol, I truly hate Moby as well, been twice in my life and last year after not being there in 12 years reminded me why I'm not going back any time soon!!!!

I made it last year and will be there again. After that, I don't think I can be driving down from Oregon to FoCo for games, or even Laramie so I am trying to get as many games in as possible.

I am actually thinking about heading to ABQ later in the season to see The Pit. That is if the Wyo-NM game will have significant meaning...

My ranking of teams Colorado folks care about

1. Broncos

2. Rockies

3. Avalanches

4. Nuggets

5. CU

Two points:

(1) When using attendance figures, does CSU count attendance the same as UW: i.e., season ticket holders even if not actually in attendance, comp tickets even if the holder doesn't make it to the game, etc.--or do they count actual butts in the seats as their attendance?

(2) I like that "hanger they call an arena" statement (hmmm, maybe like playing a basketball game on the deck of an aircraft carrier). Anyway that statement ranks right up there with TB's statement on SLL last night prior to the women's game of the AA being a "hole in the ground with cement in it".
