At Boise

Ran into a buzz saw. Boise took out their frustrations after losing a heartbreaker at USU. we were bound to have a game like this in conference. We’re overmatched by the vast majority of our conference and have managed to keep games close by effort. Sometimes effort just ain’t enough. Tough to overcome a team shooting 60%. They’ll be ok. I still believe Sunny will keep pressing our guys to improve and fight. Come tournament time in Vegas we could still be a nasty team to play.

I admire your optimism. I just don't see how this team, that is so devoid of any shooters, is going to be able to score enough to threaten any of the better teams in the conference.

It’s pretty clear there is a wide gap between Wyoming and the top of the conference.

I think most people agree that Wicks gets a pass this year, but he really has his work cut out for him. If we want to challenge for a conference championship, we probably only have one guy on our roster (Obi) who is good enough to start for a team like that.

What makes it particularly difficult now is that coaches can no longer count on piecing together a team through 2-3 recruiting classes. Each year is almost an entirely different team. So you have to be able to bring in 5 really good guys In a single recruiting class. That’s not easy to do. Hoping Wicks can get it done.

Makes one realize just how good a job Linder did last year. He brought in 2 very good guards and 1 good post player and we won 8 conference games. That team was a player away from being competitive with the top of the league. It's one thing to have players who can give you 10-15 good minutes and quite another to have players who can score and rebound night in and night out. I like Wicks. I love his positive attitude and his love for the state. But it's going to take some serious NIL money to get the talent we need, even in the MW.
