Appears the rumor was true Mr. Titleist! Ben Durbin...

As a fan it is disappointing to lose a starter again to transfer. Ben, S Gary, Josh D all at least had a home state destination as a reason why which does not put them in the ACS category of transfer. I talked to ben briefly after the TCU game last year at a restaurant and congratulated the team on a well fought game... he said he wished he had played better but thanked me anyway. He seemed like a nice young man, so I will wish him luck and thank him for his contributions to the pokes.

However, unlike S Gary and Josh D he did wait until after taking up all those spring reps to announce his transfer, which raises the frustration level. I certainly hope he did not have this planned all along and did not inform the coaches because that would hurt the team even beyond his transfer. If it was his plan and the coaches knew then that's ok as well.

I can't be mad at the kid for pursuing a childhood dream, but I could if he stole spring reps from others if he already decided to transfer but was waiting to get his degree. In the big scheme of things I am still fired up about the d linemen we have and the new players coming in, especially Uso Olive.

One thing that is being missed is the school you graduate from is your alma mater which should become your #1 team. I get sick of Nebraska kids walking around UW campus sporting Husker gear. They should have their asses handed to them. Go to Nebraska then you fuck! If you aren't good enough to play for Iowa St, fuck them and fuck you. that's all.

+1 I hate this with a passion. Once you attend a school, there's a tie to that school that trumps any fanhood of another school.

As for the Nebraska kids at UW....if they cheered for the Cornfuckers in that game at WMS last year, they should be burned at the stake. Its not like its harder to get into NU than it is UW....

or is one the bag and one the nozzle?

I guess I can understand the thought behind it but...

It's mid-late May. Spring ball is done. The season is really not that far away. To walk away from the team and school that you had the last 4 years less than 3 months before fall camp opens up before your senior year? Doesn't sit well with me. I won't call him a quitter or a bad person, and Ithank him for his time at UW, but it's just not something I would ever consider doing.

As big of fan of UW and Wyoming as I am, had I been given the same opportunity as Durbin at another school and spent 4 years there becoming a player my team was counting on heading into the fall, I wouldn't give up on them just to play for UW to play in front of my family less than 3 months before fall camp opens....

Like I said, put yourself in his shoes. You get recruited to a place other than WYO. You play and earn your degree there. And you have one year left, and WYO gives you the chance to play. Would you be heading to Laramie? I know I would. It would be hard to leave my teammates and coaches, but easy to change Colors. Especially colors I grew up loving. I'm pretty sure most if not all of you would walk away from whatever program you were at if you had the chance to play at UW.
He grew up loving the Cyclones, just as much as we grew up loving the Pokes. What's the difference, other than he left YOUR favorite team?
