App State fired their coach, why can't we??

I strongly believe, as I have since the ASU game, that any season with Sawvel as head coach is just a wasted season for Wyoming football.

Frankly, I am blown away that serious fans are even remotely OK with Sawvel remaining as head coach. I just don't get it. Is there anyone that truly believes he can get us back to an 8 or 9 win season next year? Or even a winning record? If so, can you please explain to me what makes you think that?

There was improvement as the season neared the end. The defense showed some signs of life during the Boise and Wazzu games, and the offensive schemes started sorting themselves out when we finally made some personnel changes.

To be clear, I have some serious doubts that this staff will be able to get anything positive done. They did show a willingness to change things up, even though it happened far too late. The fact that we have a first time HC and first time DC gives them enough benefit of the doubt to try again next year, but the leash needs to be REAL short.
 
Canning him would definitely be the fan base choice based on everything I'm reading/hearing...even while pokes fans try hard to see any glimmer of a silver lining.

You make some fair points. I have just lost all confidence in Sawvel, and I just can’t envision a realistic scenario in which he gets the program turned around.

I’ve been a pretty hardcore Wyoming fan for almost 40 years. I don’t recall ever feeling as embarrassed for the team, university, and state as I did watching the ASU and Idaho games. It was just so clear how outmatched we were, and we had absolutely no answers. What made it worse was that nobody on the team really seemed to care.

Despite being a pretty rabid sports fan, I’m typically good about keeping perspective on where sports really stand in the grand scheme of life. There are definitely more important things. Despite this, I found myself losing sleep and waking up the morning after the game in a foul mood. I literally had to stop watching the games because I knew my family deserved better from me. I can accept bad teams that lose lots of games because they don’t have talent. This season was different. We were an uninterested, undisciplined, sorry excuse for a football team. We performed way below our ceiling and yet nobody really seems to care. We are going to run it back out there again next season. I, for one, will not be watching that mess.

I think they are saying it's a high note relative to how it started. Definitely a bad season but the team that played the first two games gets destroyed in the last two games .... it's just true. Part of me wanted them to get destroyed just to make it so obvious what they should do...I'll give it up to the staff...they did something right. Still want them fired.
