of the sandwich shop on grand ave, it was close to the stadium, farther east than where arby's was/is.

it might have been blimpie's... it was back late 80's, very early 90's maybe. my dad's best buddy from college ran the joint.
great sandwiches, and so many memories for me pregame or postgame.

sorry off-topic, but beaver's post about great Wyoming experiences brought back a flood of early winter childhood recollections. when I went to UW it had either closed or changed to another store.

and the skii rental shop in west Laramie heading out to snowy range. my dad new the guy that ran that place too! jesus, some of my best memories happened in Laramie and the snowies.

Don't know. I would have only been a toddler at most at the time.

BTW, Wingers is now Luciano's, the Library is moving downtown, and there is now a calzone place down by Sherwin Williams and the "take out" Corona Village.

Pretty sure you're talking about Bailey's?? On 24th & Grand I think. Last I knew it was still there. Used to be our after golf spot when we were there. Great fishbowls and better sandwiches.

GO POKES!

what is Luciano's? Italian?

can't believe a wing joint would fail in a college town... buffalo wild wings is one of my favorites all-time.

but we have a wingers here in Tacoma, my wife and I enjoy their wings as the are bigger and good flavor.

my dream would be to come back to Laramie and open an indoor outdoor wing joint close to the stadium, that sold Wyoming jerseys, and had tons of TV's playing any sports the customer wanted to watch, but could run old classic rerun games. have student specials that with an id. a student can get 8 wings and a drink for 5 bucks (and a stamp so that they don't keep abusing the privilege). call it "The Chicken Coup" lol. then during the games, hire some students to walk the stadium with a cooler full of chicken wings... like at rockies games, but with a percentage going to the athletics department.

yup, then I would get to watch every Wyoming home game for the rest of my life. groovy... now I just have to convince my beach loving wife that its a good idea.

Yep. They were downtown for awhile, but bought the place last year sometime.

It didn't. The owner wanted to retire and tried to sell the resturaunt, but it was bad timing, so he just closed it up and it sat there empty for a couple of years.

Cool.

That reminds me, Village Inn is going to be a steakhouse place, locally owned and operated. And before Village Inn closed, they got almost no customers, and their employees were given 24 hour notice that they were closing up shop.

Well, there are beaches, they're just not next to any ocean.

precisely! BLIMPIES! I had to text my dad to figure it out. his friend didn't run it, but we met him there a few times.

how many of you guys ever go to Mingles?

my good friend andrew from high school runs the joint. been years since ive been there. hopefully they didn't close too.

wow, that sucks about village inn... I loved their juevos rancheros. its weird how some owners don't at least have enough forward planning and foresight to give proper notice to their employees.

Nope. Mingles and pretty much all the other bars are still open. And Wal-Mart will soon be home a Dairy Queen, which is under construction right now.

True, but we do have a Perkins. It's in the same area as McDonald's and Burger King. But Village Inn had been slowly dying for a while anyways.

more memories coming back...

if you want a bomb breakfast, head over to Cheyenne to r&b' breakfast club... their breakfast burritos are so damn good... haven't had its equal in 14 years. my girlfriend in college was from Cheyenne. we went there like every weekend! so GOOD

SSHHHHHH!!!! We like to keep R&B on the DL so its not do damn busy!!! That place is so good. We go there like once a week!

lol... its that shed they built in... but the FOOD

chorizo with green PLEASE! 14 years later and I still want it. I can't believe more people don't know.

The last thing I need in Laramie is a DQ ha. The writing was on the wall for village inn. The property had been for sale for a long time before the doors were closed. It amazes me nobody in Laramie does a good sports bar. As an earlier poster said, a place needs lots of tvs, good outdoor seating, student specials, and great food. Everything in town is pretty mediocre. I'm kind of a foody and would love to see a good sports bar with good food. Hopefully the library pushes their menu to be a bit better.

Speaking of Wyoming memories, I miss Yellowstone Drug in Shoshoni. I know it got shut down a few years ago but my mom loved their milk shakes whenever we drove from Casper to Cody to see the relatives for the holidays in the 1980s. I loved their hot ham and cheese sandwiches.

WHAT!! NOOO!! I went to high school in Powell, and that was a staple whenever we drove to Casper (or anywhere else that took us through Shoshoni. Was looking forward to taking the family to Yellowstone next summer and that was going to be one of our stops.

Any chance that it will reopen? It always seemed to be relatively busy when we went in there, but that was 15 years ago.

GO POKES!

The Shoshone Drug Store malts and the Farson Merchantile ice cream cones. Some of the things that make Wyoming a special place.

man that sucks... that malt ice cream was a staple. my mom grew up in thermop, grandparents lived in riverton... that is no good.

another place to check out; both my brothers live in buffalo... got to check out the dash inn. every time I visit, I have to go. yum, and not far off the interstate, but I think its only open for certain parts of the year... they take off during the winter or something.

and if in lander, hit the gannett grill. good beer, fresh food. there was a steakhouse in Hudson... probably still there, for years was known as the best steak in Wyoming.

At least Farson is still open.
