It sounds like Glenn and staff are shying away from recruiting Meredith. He has visted Laramie, but it sure sounds like he didn't feel too welcomed by the coaching staff. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not for recruiting Wyoming high school athletes just because they are from Wyoming, but Meredith is a legitimate Division IA athelete. He is being recruited by several BCS schools. We can't afford to lose these sorts of in state talent. I could understand if he had his mind set on leaving the state and never gave Wyoming a chance, but what makes it worse is that it seems as if he is (or at least was) giving Wyoming a serious look until visiting with the coaching staff. If Glenn and staff really aren't interested in getting this kid to Laramie, then it seriously makes me wonder about their eye for talent. Their "talent" on the offensive side of the ball sure hasn't panned out.

Is Meredith really a D-1 prospect? His listed height and weight and inflated by the Green River coaches that is for sure. I have seen him play once but he did not stand out like I expected. The kid from Rock Springs that played safety and QB last year was much more impressive. Too bad he could not qualify.

I don't think Meredith is D1 quality. He is visiting D1 schools but if you look at where his offers are coming from it is a different story.

I got to see him play also once this year and he didn't stand out to me either. Seemed like just another high school player from Wyoming.

Don't know much about Andrew, but for what it is worth, Glenn & staff are shying away from recruiting fricking EVERYBODY right now.

I think that is from knowing, what's the point. The writing is on the wall. If TCU blows us out, I bet it gets very quiet in Laramie, more than it is right now.

Agree...but I don't think it could get any quieter...the TCU ass kicking is inevitable. I am really just wondering, if the staff isn't recruiting, why they are still in place (as a whole)? Then again...

This is total speculation, but I believe Glenn and his staff have already been told they will not be here next year and to hold off on the recruitment of new players. I'm still guessing, but I bet Burman has already been making phone calls and will let the new staff recruit their own players. I'm not saying Burman has already picked a new coach, but here again I'm guessing he has a list and has already contacted them. Sounds like the smart way to go.

On Meredith, from what I have read and seen in person. He went to a high profile football camp and was Defensive MVP after a couple picks during the scrimmage. Since then he has been rated as a 3 star DB by Rivals, but remains only a 1 star SLB by Scout. Given the offers we have made to several other Safeties, they appear bigger and faster. If he truly is a ball hawk it would help create turnovers but I am satisfied with how the defensive recruiting has gone so far. But, I also think that if ANYONE thinks this kid is a 3 star athlete in Wyoming we should be recruiting him hard, if nothing else to avoid the backlash of letting WYO kid go out of state. I also watched this kid play in person, knowing that Rivals had him rated as 3 star athlete and I was left expecting more, he could have had a bad day or played down to the competition, but I expected more domination given his Rivals rating.

As far as Glenn's staff not recruiting right now, I don't think they are giving up on it, or told to stop, I think it is a matter of bringing in kids when we can make a positive impression. I assume they are waiting to bring in kids for visits when we play SDSU (best chance for another win) and CSU (biggest crowd we will have). With all the negativity, bringing in a kid now would just turn him off, so I can understand why they are waiting, I would too, even if I had 5 more years guaranteed.

I wish as a fan there was something I could do to help, this is my hobby and passion!
