Epps should have been honorable mention but overall pretty fair. Crall, Prosser, Kaden Jackson and Mayfield would be the only other guys that I would think would have any consideration. Ghaifan didn't perform to the level he did a year ago and certainly the off the field issues eliminate him from consideration.

Wilson deserved a spot.

Probably the best tackler on the team, ends with 99 tackles on the season, plus 2 sacks and 2 interceptions. Those are very nice numbers for an LB.

The Wilson exclusion really bothers me

Yeah, I’m curious about Wilson too. He had 103 tackles, by the way. Plus 10.5 tfl.
I’m also curious about Crall. He was in the mix in numbers with 6.5 tfl and 4.5sacks plus he had a forced fumble and recovery. Crall kind of reminds me of this generations Mitch Donahue. From being a walk-on, he’s been making a name for himself.

He's the best player on the team. Wingard played really well the second half, but Wilson was the best player beginning to end.

Is there a limited number of honorable mentions? I noticed that Nevada has a whole slew of honorable mentions, and we only have a couple.
I mean, for Epps to not even get honorable mention is crazy. I feel like the selection is pretty arbitrary sometimes. Its like they don't actually watch any game tape when they choose this stuff.

Epps really got screwed on recognition his entire career outside of in house honors ( team captain).

I'm pretty sure the honorable mention guys are those who received a certain number of votes for all-conference but didn't make the cut. I don't think any voters make a list of guys they want as honorable mention

Epps is a finalist for the Burlsworth trophy recognizing the outstanding player who started their career as a walk-on and I believe will be attending the dinner and announcement ceremony on Dec. 3. I would say that being a finalist for this award is much more recognition than an All-Conference selection.
