How do we know this basketball season was a success? We didn't start looking forward to football until mid-late February.
When do you think we will start looking forward to hoops? End of September?

Umm, October to November, We know we have a crazy early stretch where we will be playing tough teams and we'll have to see how it works out. Then everyone will have hopes that we can play against some MWC teams and depending on how we do we'll start talking about Basketball either early October because on the field we are getting shit on or Late November because Bohl made believers out of all of us.

That is my prediction let's see how it pans out.

If we don't grab those wins against Montana, FAU, AFA, SJSU, and Hawaii, it might be 2016 until I start looking forward to football again.

And to think a week ago I got blasted on this board for saying the team wouldn't win another game.
By the way, Sellers is an absolute waste of a scholarship. That dude is horrible. The team might also want to consider checking to see if Adams is color blind. He doesn't seem to know which jerseys to throw it to.

I'm really proud of Sobey for stepping up, Granberry too. Adams and Grabau have not been the same since Nance went down. They need to step it up. Cooke I was happy with as well, he's still your typical 5 to 10 point guy, but he was a beast on the boards last night. I hope he keeps it up, Washington is getting time now, he needs to prove he can be on the court. Sellers, he's just Sellers. I would like to see Bentz contribute also. I'm surprised Halderson didn't play. I think he deserves more time than Sellers.
I'm actually proud that this team is still showing fight. We may have lost, but these guys are trying. They've been hit hard.
Barring no one leaving the program at the end of the year... Washington, Vernon, and with the group of recruits we have coming in and McMannamen coming back from his Redshirt we will have depth. But depending on how Nance comes back it's talent next year I'm concerned about.
I still think Shyatt has us on the right track, even if we finish 17-15 this year.

Go Pokes! Keep up the fight.

You weren't necessarily blasted for saying the team wouldn't win another game, you were blasted because of the way you said it. Typically your completely valid opinions also come with an added insult directed at a player. You're free to do that, it's a free country, but the reaction will almost always be negative.

i'm sad to say it too, this team needs a player that wants to be our leader from here on out, otherwise we'll only have 4 more games total.....it's been fun and as always, what if......

I agree with this. Some people were bagging on Cooke this game and saying he had looked like he had quit. Thats not what I saw. He killed the boards and I don't think he is used to this much playing time. He looked gassed. NOw those 3 or so missed dunks killed me. Gotta finish. Sellers needs to finish those moves/shots down low when he gets them there. I think he has a decent touch on the offensive end but won't ever expect much out of him.
If Nance can come back fully healthy next year I expect us to be in the chase. If everyone returns next year. well someone can't return we have 3 recruits coming in and only 2 seniors. (Could Mcmannamen go to a walkon and use the hathaway?) but if we don't have turnover and the team sticks together im very excited for next year.

As for the rest of this year? I don't have high hopes but we still pay pretty good defense(at least we did against AF) so we will have a shot in our games. Just not predicting anything.

I don't have any inside info, but I'm thinking there must be something wrong with Halderson - either an illness or an injury.

Yeah, even if people want to dog on Halderson he is still light years ahead of Sellers. I do remember that he had an injury when we were scrimmaging before the season and it affected him, cause I remember Shyatt saying he was supposed to back up Nance. Sellers also might be struggling with his shot from when he broke his hand earlier this year. I'm questioning from the outside looking in as any fan, but I'm sure Shyatt knows what he has and how to utilize it.
Cooke impressed me the most by making both his free throws in the clutch last night. Missed dunks suck, but it happens.
I hope we have Granberry healthy for the rest of the year.
Also we may have lost Hankerson for his final year, and if that's the case then we will have three schollies to honor all three recruits. I'm just hoping we keep Washington and Vernon. I'm sick of the "One and done" guys, like Shakir, Ajayi (even though we never fully got him he verballed and then bailed which screwed our recruiting and depth.)
I think Washington has Big potential, we saw it earlier this year when he beat UNC. I still think Vernon has potential to do great things for us. I'm excited for what we could bring to the table next season.
I don't think we will win another game this year, but I will not count these guys out completely either.

Ahhh...so it's my delivery! I'll try to work on that.

Yeah, if there is one bright side, Sobey has been stepping up and scoring in double digits the last few games. Granberry is getting there. But Grabau has been all but missing and Adams, not sure about him, but his production has fallen off. Cooke is usually solid around the rim, but has been having issues getting his dunks to go in the basket.

At this point we could even miss the CBI quite easily.

Replace "could even" with "certainly will". There is no way this team is quite competitive enough to play in any tournament. This is not because, IMO, they don't have the talent. It is because they have had over two dozen games to hone their style and strategy with Nance the key player. Without Nance everything is turned upside down. Roles become different. If there were another dozen games to adapt without Nance they would be much better off. But it is too late now.

If it is true that Granberry and too-hard-dunk Cooke are hurting, then start playing for next season. Tell the subs exactly what is expected of them and put them in often. I will still be watching.

I'll always watch and cheer just because I have accepted defeat again......

Doesn't mean I have lost any respect for the team or players, They are just playing very under manned and this is still a tough conference.

Boise State got slaughtered tonight and may be without Drmic. Pokes need to pounce while the mood is bad.

If he was physical enough to play at this level that would be true. He simply isn't strong enough or athletic enough to compete right now. Sellers may not have much basketball talent, but he at least has enough size to play some defense and rebound a little bit. Haldorson really could have used a redshirt year and some steroids or something. I don't think he'll ever be big enough to be more than a situational 3 point/free throw shooter for Wyoming.

He's listed at 6-8, 210. Looks a lot like Nance before this Season. Nance his frosh year was 210, last year Nance was 212. This year he bulked up to 225. I agree that he lacks physicality, but that generally comes with more playing time, which is what he needs.

Nance is athletic. He was competitive at 212, Haldorson is slow and weak. No amount of playing time is going to make a skinny kid physical enough to play at this level, he has to grow and grow a lot. Maybe he doesn't have the genes to grow or he isn't committed to the weight room but I don't see him becoming key component of a Wyoming basketball team. I was completely wrong about Grabau though so hopefully Haldorson will prove me wrong too. I'd love it if he did.
