AFA press: "This is not a powerful edition of the Cowboys."

That sounds like a challenge.

The Air Force beat writer is confident enough to PRINT in the Colorado Springs Gazette that Wyoming ISN'T a good team. He's calling us below average two days before the game? It's one thing when a player coughs up a bulletin board turd. They're young and some are stupid. When a beat writer says we're not good two days before the game, he realizes what he's doing and doesn't care if the Cowboys read it. He's 100 percent confident that we're not good.

I sure as hell hope the Cowboys show up on Saturday and shove a "Not Powerful Cowboy" boot up his Zoomie ass.

It's time to defend the War.

Stomp these douchebags!!

I sent the link to the Cowboys twitter page. If they hadn't seen it, they will now...and they'll have all day to think about it.

That's some powerful verbiage coming from a writer of a team that went 2-10 last year!

Once again someone (the initial poster above) has taken something in print and spoke about it without quoting the real article to make their point, which is far from what the article said if you read it. First and foremost, this is not the AF beat writer, but the sports 'opinion' guys who editorializes on all things sports and especially AF.

The full article, if you would take the time to read it, discusses how Wyoming

" trampled the Falcons, 56-23, in a game even worse than the lopsided score suggests. Wyoming led 42-17 at the half. Remember, this game was at Falcon Stadium, where loyal fans watched one of the worst home performances in Air Force history, and we're talking any sport."

Sounds to me that he is actually giving kudo's to your team, a Cowboy team, that kicked the Shi$ out of us last year. But then the part the poster above 'didn't like and took license" with in discussing your team. The reporter said

".... This is not a powerful edition of the Cowboys and neither was last season's edition. After stampeding past Air Force, the Cowboys lost six of their next seven games while allowing 272 points (45.3 per game) and being outscored by 130 points"

I know and you know your recent teams are not the same as teams from years ago (2011 8-5 as an example) with recent teams 2013 5-7 2012 4-8

He was simply stating a fact that you kicked our butt and it wasn't even a good year for Wyoming (but way better than AF). And having a new coach/scheme your team this year 'is' questionable this season until further down the road and we see how it plays out. Let's be honest, were your really happy with a 17-12 win over Montana?

So again, for everyone else reading a post such as above, read the full article before you start sling cowpies.

Here's to a good game with no injuries on either team.

Were we happy? Considering we had no idea what expect (and to some degree, still don't), yeah, we're happy with the win. Defense was day and night better than last year with that game alone. Special teams actually looked good on both sides. Front 7 on defense played tough and physical and actually got quite a bit of pressure into the Montana backfield (only 1 sack, but QB hurries were numerous). QB play (while still a concern) was largely affected by our pass blocking, which will be addressed (to what degree, no clue). Run blocking, when it clicked, was unstoppable, especially with Wick in the backfield (who carried defenders another 3-5 yards all game). And in all honesty, Montana would most likely beat quite a few FBS teams, including some in the MWC. There is a reason they are consistently near the top at the FCS level. Nicholls State though, the team you're pumping yourselves on, has been bad. You pumped yourselves on them last year too.

I understand the context of the story. I 1agree with most of what he's writing. My question is why would he call into question the strength of this years Wyoming team off one game? He thinks this isn't a powerful edition of the Cowboys, that's fine. I'm going to reserve judgement until we play Air Force. After that I'm going to reserve judgement until after we play Oregon.

We have six players from Colorado Springs on the roster. Do you think those guys live in a vacuum? You know their friends that read the article are mentioning that the writer of the Gazette thinks, "they aren't a powerful edition of the Cowboys."

It just gives our boys something else to prove. I don't know how smart that is on the eve of game day.

I hear you and see it both ways. Again, Ramsey (reporter) is there to give his view and not that of being a newsman (just like no one on the TV are news reporters anymore), he only writes an opinion column so take it for what it is worth.

But just like you feel he is calling out your team and giving them motivation, he is more than just a little calling out our team to 'put up or shut up' after getting killed last year by your team. And just like us with our 2-10 record last year (injuries on defense and 4 starting QB's...actually 5 as the 4th in line was hurt at practice and out for the end of the year, with the 5th starting the last 6 games) and being called 'not strong this year' I guess the same goes with your team who was better but still only 5-7 last season and with a new coach, etc. this year.

It's all just a 'war of words' that will be played out tonight. Sounds like good football weather 45 degrees and minimal chance of rain in the evening.

GO FALCONS

Nice article about one of your players from Colorado Springs as written by our AF beat reporter. But take a look at the short 1+min video he just added with his thoughts on the game which speaks well to both teams. In a nutshell, both teams are going to run and run some more but might AF open up the pass a bit more than Wyoming if/when needed? Enjoy and, again, here's to a good game with no injuries.
