A treat for those of you that remember Fennis.

I didn't get to read these articles because I didn't get the LA Times in Buffalo, Wyoming. Here's an article that was printed the week before the UCLA game.

Better yet, here's an article that was printed the week after the UCLA game.

The quote about Jon Sommers is my favorite since he was my favorite player on that team. I can't remember it exactly but some UCLA player/coach said, "We don't have an offensive tackle."

What a great basketball team. Hopefully, these Pokes we've got today will climb the ladder to be remembered as fondly as those Wyoming greats from 1987.

Cowboy Junky you say Buffalo, whom are you, I grew up there and graduated in 1988....Sean Schneidmiller...
Man oh man loved that year, but to this day i still have never watched that game was too nervous and was crusing around that day listened on radio tho!!!

Loved Fennis, just wish I was a year older to have seen him in person all season that 1987-1988 season, but I saw him once at the event's center in Casper. This team man oh man I wish we could find a DVD on those games!!!!!

Due to my bank account being hacked three times in the last five years, I try to keep my name off the internet, but you know who this is. My girlfriend and I ran into you at the New Mexico bowl where we got trounced by Temple.

I don't know if we're coming down. We haven't missed a home game yet this year but I think the lady might have to work this weekend. We'll see. If we don't come down this weekend I'm sure we'll come down next weekend.

Have you been to any games aside from Nebraska? I haven't seen you yet this year.

Best comment from the entire article

While Hazzard conceded that Wyoming was the better team, he said the Cowboys were allowed to play too rough. "They're physical and we're not physical. We don't have an offensive tackle."

I watched that game in Westwood in a bar decked out in Wyo gear. Even the UCLA folks were giving me props...after they got over the shock :D :D

Yep. I mentioned that too in my original post but I think it got lost on the bottom. Sommers was a bad ass. I modeled my game after that guy.

That's what I miss about Brandy the most. He would go to Colorado and get big white kids that nobody else wanted. Then he would turn them into college all-stars with skill sets that landed many in the NBA.
